Calendar Cover Block

I was thinking, ya'll might like to see the entire block that I used on the cover of the 2018 Crazy Quilt Calendar:

Purple Crazy Quilt Block
The hanky in the center is a gift from a friend.  The bird brooch on the right is also a gift from her.  It's vintage too!

Here it is sewn into a pillow:

Purple Crazy Quilt Pillow
This is a 9 inch block.  I crocheted the trim with some fancy fun yarn and then hand-attached it along the edge of the pillow.  I really like the crocheted edgings with the cool fuzzy yarn!

And here it is on the calendar cover:

2018 Crazy Quilt Calendar
This is available at both Magcloud http://www.magcloud.com/user/kitty-and-me
and at Etsy:  http://www.kittyandme.etsy.com/

Be sure to stop by next week!!  The staff of Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine has an announcement coming!!!  This is going to be so much fun!!  Don't miss it!

Have a safe and fun 3 day weekend everyone!  I'll be back on Tuesday!

Girl With Cat Pillow

Well, I'm getting the hang of things here!  This #Asus computer is awesome!  And Photoshop is much easier than I expected.  It's just a matter of figuring out where all the tools are.  Basically, the tools are the same as what I'm used with Corel software, it's all just in a different places.  Piece of cake!

So, what am I stitching on these days?  Another pillow:

I'm really into stitching with purple these days!  It's a nice change from my usual pink!

Also this morning, I sewed up my little kitty door hangers.  I just have to stuff them and sew the little butts shut.  I'll do that later and then I'll post more photos of those.

I'm just about ready for Christmas.  All I have left to do is to wrap my gifts.  I'll do that over the weekend.  Maybe Bubba will give me a hand with that.

Be sure to stop by on New Year's Day as I'll be posting a sneak peek of Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine!  Just the cover!  But it's very Springy and I'm sure by New Year's, we'll all need a little breath of Springtime air!

A Few Things Finished

I spent most of the day yesterday finishing up projects.  First is this pretty Purple Crazy Quilt Pillow:

I also finished up on this little Cellphone Pouch which was a custom order:

And finally, this pillow with the vintage Rose perfume label:

Mom has finishes too!  She made these sweet little Felt Christmas Tree Ornaments for our Etsy shop:

So, now that I have everything finished and I'm all caught up on things, I started on some new little purses.  I'll have some photos over the weekend!

Do You Remember This?

LOL!!  It's a joke!  I'm sure you're all tired of seeing it by now!

Yes, it's the peacock design from the cover of the 2015 Crazy Quilt Calendar.  I finished it into a pillow with crocheted trim.  I'm very pleased with the finished pillow and I just love doing these peacocks so I think I'll plan on doing another in the near future.

I also finished up this little cellphone pouch for my aunt:

I heard through the grapevine that the blue one I made her a few years back is starting to look a little worn. So it was time for her to get a new one!  I crocheted the trim on the bottom of this one too.

I have some more finishing to do this week and I want to sew up some new blocks to stitch on.  More eye candy to come!

Marie Antoinette St Patricks Day Crazy Quilt Pillow

Well, that was a lot to squeeze into the title of this blog post!  Ha, ha, ha!  But that's what it's about!  I sewed up my Marie Antoinette St Patricks Day Crazy Quilt Pillow today and I did the hand finishing so this is all done and ready to enjoy!

And here's a close up photo of the organza ribbon embroidery and beadwork that I did on the dress:

And here's what this looks like sitting in a chair:

Today, I also finished up 2 purses that I made in December so I'll have those to share with you tomorrow.  I still have some more pieces to finish but I really need a fun sewing day.  A day to just run my treadle machine and sew up a bunch of blocks to stitch on!  Maybe over the weekend.  I only have to get groceries this weekend!!

Teacup Kittens

After 2 days of dark dreariness and heavy fog, the clouds finally lifted and we have some sun!  I almost didn't recognize it!  LOL!!!  We had a cold front come through but the sun feels good!  I think I'll make a cup of hot tea and go sit out on the front porch for a little while this afternoon.

My current Crazy Quilt project is this Kittens In A Teacup pillow:

And here's a closeup photo of the silk ribbon embroidery that I did around the kittens:

I'm going to have to order some silk ribbon so I can hand dye some more shades of pink.  This is about the last of what I did last time.  I ya'll know I do a lot of things in pink!

Here are a couple of closeups of the bead work I did on a couple of the seams:

I'll be working on this more this afternoon.  I've already done all my housework for the day.  I just have to run my washer and dryer a few times.

Is anyone enjoying The Cinnamon Bear?  I haven't heard from anyone and I think it was a fun thing to share since it's one of my favorite Christmas story's.  Please let me know!

Have You Ever Been To France?

I've been stitching away and finished another project.  Well, I finished stitching it:

I'll finish this into a pretty Cottage style pillow with some lace around the outside.  My plan is to sew it up tomorrow afternoon.  The image is from a vintage Christmas card.  Can you find the little snowman?  It's a little Mill Hill charm.

I also finished up my Peacock Purse:

This is a Christmas gift for my mom.  She'll have a cow I'm sure!  She keeps telling me that she wants one but she wouldn't use it because it might get dirty so I'm not to make her one.  Yeah, right!  You can ask my mom, I never do what I'm told!  Ha, ha, ha!  I'll let you know what she says on Christmas when she opens the package!

If you've never been to France, you might enjoy a visit to Allie's blog.  She recently won a trip to France from The DMC Corporation!  There are awesome photos on her blog:

Be sure to read Part 1 of Touring The DMC Factory first.

And Part 2 of The DMC Factory is here.

I was so taken with all the wonderful photos from DMC's archives.  I love history.  Esp. needlework history so getting to see DMC's factory through Allies experience has been wonderful for me!  I hope you enjoy it too!

Crazy Quilt Finishes

It's been a busy week.  I feel like all I've done is run around here and run around there.  Appointments, having to pick up things at the grocery store and then cleaning and laundry.  But somehow I managed to finish up a few of the projects that I was working on.  First is my Victorian Crazy Quilt Handbag:

I had crocheted some pink trim for the bottom but when I put it this purse together, it just didn't seem to work.  So I went a more simple finish for the bottom.  I think it came out nicely!

Next is my Snowman Pillow:

If you don't remember, I made this piece for my aunt for her birthday which is in October.  My aunt loves snowmen so I think she'll enjoy having this!

Finally, I finished up this Crazy Quilt Teddy Bear Doll:

This is a gift for a friend.  I want to get this in the mail either tomorrow or Saturday.

For those of you taking my Crazy Quilt Online Course, I'm working on Lesson 8 right now.  I thought I'd have it done by now but again, I feel like I've done nothing but run around all week!  We'll have it ready soon!

Crazy Quilt Snowman

I finished stitching up this Crazy Quilt Snowman the other day:

I did the little cross stitch snowman quite awhile back and thought he would look cute on a Christmas Crazy Quilt pillow.  As soon as I get this sewn together, I'll post another photo.  This is a gift for my aunt for her birthday the end of October.

Crazy Quilt Cats

So it's no secret that I absolutely adore cats!  And cats are a favorite theme of mine when it comes to Crazy Quilting.  I have some finishes to share today and yes, they are all cat themed!

First is my Victorian Crazy Quilt Cat Pillow:

Next, I have a couple of new Crazy Quilt Cat Dolls to share:

These 2 cats are for gifts.  I try to alternate between things for my store and gifts.  Anyway, those are my finishes for this week!  I'm off to sit with my little ones and stitch for the rest of the day.  It's cloudy and dreary today and perfect for watching TV and stitching!

Another Students Crazy Quilt Block Lesson 6

I have another students block to share with you today.  This is Kathy's Lesson 6 block:

Isn't this a pretty block?  Kathy used a photo image of strawberries and then enhanced them with some embroidery and silk ribbon work.  And then some strawberry buttons.  Which I think I've seen at Hobby Lobby.  I love the border with the detached chain flowers inside a circle.  Very original!  And check out the spider!  Ooooh, a very scary spider!  Love it!

Beautiful work Kathy!  Thank you for sending this to me to share with my readers!

Another photo that I thought I'd share today is my Crazy Quilt Cat Pillow.  Well, the stitched piece anyway.  I still have to sew it into a pillow.  The stitching is complete now:

I love this block!  I can't wait to sew it together!

I'll leave you today with a cute photo of my babies:

I got lucky and happened to see them both laying on the chair together.   On top of my stuff.  Which cats always seem to have a tendency to do!  But it looks like Wrigley and Cotton are going to be best friends!  Can you believe how much Wrigley has grown?  He was only 3 pounds when we adopted him!  Cotton is only 3 pounds now.  And I don't laugh but I measured Wrigley's tail again and that grew too!  It's over 14 inches long.  I've never had a cat with such a long tail before!

Cottage Beach Seascape Bowl Fillers

I have some finishes to share today.  First, my Crazy Quilt Bird Pillow is done and it's so pretty!

I love the soft, wide cream colored lace that I used on it.

And my Seascape Bowl Fillers are done:

Everything is included except the bowl!  The Crazy Quilt Pillow, the seashells, the faux pearls and the hand dyed cheesecloth for lining the bowl!

Maria had asked me how I made the anemones.  I confess, I did not make those.  I'm fortunate to have a home decor store give me their outdated fabric and trim books.

So my anemones are nothing more than little tassels!

Yellow Crazy Quilt Pillow

I've finished up a few of my stitched pieces and thought I'd share my Yellow Crazy Quilt pillow with you today:

I made this as a gift.  I almost hate to part with this one, it's so pretty!

I've been stitching up strawberries and will have photos of those soon!  I'm almost done with them.  I have the tops (doilies) all hand painted so once I finish up the stitching, I'll have a nice basketful of Crazy Quilt Strawberries!

Yellow Crazy Quilt Hankie Pillow

Just a quick update on my Yellow Crazy Quilt Hankie Pillow.  I have the seams embroidered and am ready to start with some beading and other embellishments:

Look closely at the seam embroidery to the right of the yellow flower.  That's a woven border that I worked with my waste canvas technique!

Decorative Pillows

The majority rules Ladies!  I had about 20 ladies here and on Facebook who voted for a pillow and 3 votes for a purse.  So went with the majority and finished this into a pillow:

There's more pictures of my Crazy Quilt Bird Pillow here.

And speaking of decorative pillows, this is mom's latest creation:

I believe mom used a vintage embroidery pattern to create this pretty Floral Pillow.

So what's my next project?  I can't share it yet, but it'll be on the cover of a magazine!  I started stitching on it this morning but ya'll know me.  I'm a fast stitcher so I'll have some other photos for you soon!

Crazy Quilt Bird Pillow

Okay, isn't is Spring yet?  It's snowing like crazy outside!!!  I'm waiting for Robins and instead I get snow!  What's up with that?  LOL!!!

Well, here's a touch of Spring.  A quick update on my Crazy Quilt Bird Pillow:

If I remember correctly, this block is 10 inches square.  I still have a lot of embellishing to add to it but I thought you'd all enjoy an update.  Don't you just love those colors?  And it does look like Spring!

Crazy Quilt Bird Pillow

I'll do the finishing on my last purse project tomorrow but for today, I started another crazy quilt project:

I hand painted the lace pieces yesterday morning and started stitching on this earlier today.  Blues and purples are so pretty together, don't you think?  This is very Springy and I'm am ready for Spring now!
