Crazy Quilt Block Patterns

Originally created as an Online Crazy Quilt Class on Color and Composition.

9 individual block patterns on how to work with color and composition in crazy quilting. This was an online Stitch Along class that has ended now but will continue to be available to anyone who would like to learn this aspect of crazy quilting.

Following the step by step directions in these books, you can create these lovely 6 inch Crazy Quilt Blocks.

If you make all 9 of the blocks in this series, you will have enough to make a beautiful Crazy Quilt!

These are now available at Etsy:  http://www.kittyandme.etsy.com/
Also available at Magcloud:   http://www.magcloud.com/user/kitty-and-me

Halloween Home Decor

My mom always makes me laugh.  Not just because she has a good sense of humor and is a really funny person, but because she has a few eccentricities.  For example, my mom does not care much for Halloween.  She loves the Fall season, but she just doesn't like the day.  However, she loves cute little Haunted Houses.  So much so, that when she found the embroidery pattern of this Halloween Haunted House, she had to stitch it:

Is this too cute or what?!!!!  Mom embellished this pillow with beads, buttons and charms and hand crocheted trim.

I've never been into the Haunted House this but I love Halloween!  I go more for the cute little pumpkins though.  Here's are my finished Halloween Crazy Quilt Door Hangings:

The little cross stitch designs in the centers are from my Elegant Crazy Quilt Sentiments For Crazy Quilting Book.  All of these do-dads are available in my Etsy shop.

I'm almost finished with my Crazy Quilt Christmas purse.  I just have to sew the trim on the bottom and add the snap.  As soon as it's finished, I'll post photos.

My current stitching project are some Crazy Quilt Clutch Purses.  I sewed up 4 of them last week in pretty colors so I'll post photos of those soon as well.

For now, the Cubs are playing the Cardinals.  Yes, I'm sure the Cubs will lose but that's okay.  Baseball is baseball.  I'm off to watch the game and stitch!

New Crazy Quilt Project

I spent some time with my sewing machine this morning and did the finishing on a few projects so I expect to have some photos of completed things to share tomorrow.

I also started on a new crazy quilt block.  I'm not sure what I'll do with this but I pieced the block awhile back and have been wanting to stitch it:

Here's a closeup of the silk ribbon embroidery on the hat:

And a closeup of this border worked with Sharon B's templates:

I also wanted to mention that we're offering Elegant Cross Stitch Sentiments For Crazy Quilting at a special sale price:

For a limited time, it's available for $24.95!

Elegant Cross Stitch Sentiments For Crazy Quilting

I've been chattering a lot about my upcoming book, Elegant Cross Stitch Sentiments For Crazy Quilting.  No, I really don't design much cross stitch anymore but I had this fun idea for a book with some small cross stitch designs that could be used on crazy quilts.  It took me awhile to design the 60 plus patterns and then awhile longer to stitch up some models:

My assistant and editor Jason, is in the process of converting the patterns and putting the book together.  I'll have more information in the next couple of weeks regarding the book but in the meantime, I'm making some of the models available for purchase.  I'm keeping the Halloween one but the rest are in my Etsy shop.  And just so ya'll know, that purple and green hanging pillow is the cover design!

Another Book Model

I feel like I've been neglecting my blog but at this time of year, I guess we only have 2 hands and can only do so much.  I'm just about done with my Christmas shopping.  I have 2 more things to pick up and I can wrap next weekend.

I have been stitching and working on my upcoming book.  Here's another model:

I think I'll take a break from the book until after Christmas now.  I only have a few more patterns to do and few more models that I want to stitch so it won't take long to finish it once I get past the holidays.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I want to wish everyone in Blogland and Stitchville a very Happy and safe Thanksgiving weekend!

No, you're not crazy!  This does say Happy Halloween!  It's a model for my upcoming book!  I finished stitching it this morning.

We'll be heading over to my mom's shortly.  I spent yesterday helping her with preparations (and eating her chocolate chips!)  Mom thinks I help her so much but I really just keep the dogs out of the kitchen and wash up dishes.  I kept asking her if she wanted to put some whipped cream in the Kitchenaid and turn it on high (we did that a few years ago just for fun, then spent an hour cleaning up the mess!) but mom didn't want to do that this year.  Guess you had to be there!

Anyway, have a great holiday weekend everyone!

Another Model

This morning, I finished stitching up another model for my upcoming crazy quilt book:

And of course, I started on another project because I have to have a project in the works.  If I don't, I spend too much time thinking about what to stitch next.  It's best for me to just pick something and do it!

In other news, I want to share this photo from a recent class that Allison Aller taught:

Several months back, Allie asked me if she could teach my waste canvas technique at a crazy quilt retreat.  These ladies are Allison's students and they're waving to me!  How cool is that?!!!!

Finally for today, we're offering 20% off in our Etsy shop, now through the end of Thanksgiving weekend.  Please hop on over and take advantage of our discount!

Stitching Models

I mentioned awhile back that I've started another book.  At the moment, I'm stitching up a few models for it.  Since my books are self-published, it's okay for me to post photos:

I just started the blue one this morning and I expect to have time to work on some more later today.

I can't say that I miss designing the big, elaborate cross stitch designs that I used to do. It's just not my calling any longer.  But small designs that can be applied to crazy quilting are a lot of fun to do.  And I do still enjoy playing around with my PatternMaker software.

In other news, I'm also working on some instructional booklets.  The first one should be ready by the end of the week.

Working On.........

I thought I'd chat a little bit today about my current projects.  First, here's a photo of my newest stitched piece.  I finished this up this morning:

I doubt anyone can guess what this will be.  But I'm working on an instructional booklet for it!  I'm sure there are some crazy quilters out there who would like to make some!

I'm also working on my next book.  I'm not giving any details yet but the patterns will be a nice addition to crazy quilts.  I have a ways to go on it yet and then it'll take me some time to convert everything to get it ready for publication.  No, it won't be another seam treatment book.

Finally, I'm typing up Lesson 1 of my Crazy Quilt Color & Composition Class.  As soon as I get that done, I'll start work on Lesson 2.  That class will start right after New Year's!

Cat Doll for Cover of Volume 3

This is the cat doll that I did for the cover of Elegant Crazy Quilt Seam Treatments Volume 3:

I'm happy to say that Volume 3 is done!  The cover photo is taken and we're putting it together.  If all goes well, I expect to have it available by the weekend.

And if no one minds that I pat myself on the back, I believe this is the best collection of borders that I've done yet!  I've already stitched a few and can't wait to stitch some more!

I spent 6 hours sewing up some new blocks today so I'm ready to stitch!!!

And, I've already started on another book for crazy quilting.  No, not borders.  You'll have to keep your eyes open for hints in upcoming blog posts!

Strawberry Pillow Ornament

I had quite a bit of stitching time yesterday so a lot of progress was made on my Strawberry Pillow:

And here's a closeup photo of the strawberry bead motif in the center:

I expect to have more stitching time for this today.  I have to run and get groceries today and then I'm getting my hair done.  Long over due on that!!!!  But I'll have time to stitch this afternoon.

In other news, my Elegant Crazy Quilt Seam Treatments Books are both now available as hard copies and digital copies at Magcloud.

And finally for today, a few more of mom's small embroidered pillows:
