Crazy Quilt Magazine by Lisa P. Boni

Just wanted to post a review of the new Crazy Quilt Magazine by Lisa P. Boni.  As you know, Lisa took over the magazine and is now the new owner/editor/publisher and she did an amazing job on her Premier issue which is all about Sparkle!

Lisa's cover artist is Helen White with her Northern Canadian Winter block.  Lovely color combo!

Also in this issue is a good article on photographing Crazy Quilts which I can tell you from my own experience, that it is a challenge!

Margreet De Reus shares her Crazy Quilt Clock and Betty Pillsbury's Once Upon A Time Mixed Media box is a beautiful addition to this issue.

Learn about embellishing using Swarovski Crystals with a good article by Mary Anne Griffin.

Barbara Warner shares with us a pretty block called Aunt Lulu's Postcards.

Kelly Montgomery shares her Galactic Heros crazy quilt and Arlene White inspires us with her 12 Days Of Christmas Quilt.

Susan Elliot talks about glitter and Sparkle, Sparkle Little Fish by Linda Mussehl is a must see along with an nice idea for using up your left over threads pieces.

BJ Sandusky talkes about bling and Mary Beard shares with us how to make Velvet Yo-Yo's.

You can find a tutorial on Christmas ornaments and an article about a lovely antique crazy quilt by Janet Popish.

Last but not least, Lisa has provided us with some beautiful stitch diagrams to work with!

Everyone, this is an all-star line up!!  Beautifully executed and presented, this issue a must have!!

Sweet Comment From a Crazy Quilt Quarterly Contributor

I just had to share this lovely compliment that I received from Darlene Kliewer (contributor) in regards to the special Holiday Issue of Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine.

Oh this holiday magazine is loaded!  I am nearly out of ink so I ordered the hard copy and can't wait until it gets here.  This is just the best magazine issue yet--well---except for the one with my mermaid book of course!!!  :)

I love the stories as you know and the ideas and patterns and colors and just everything.  Thank you again.  I see my mom and me (photo) and get tears---and I wonder how your grandma's cookies didn't get stale until April!  Ha ha---

Darlene was sweet enough to give me permission to re-post her comment here.  Thank you Dar!

Crazy Quilt Quarterly Magazine

I needed to leave myself time to put the 2016 Crazy Quilt Calendar together so I'm working a bit early on the Autumn issue of Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine.

I thought for today I would share the the Table Of Contents with you from the Summer issue:

I also thought I would share a project that I had to pull from the Summer issue because I couldn't squeeze anymore in:

I made this summer Seascape purse a few years back and it was perfect for the theme of the Summer issue but with so much wonderful content from contributors, I decided I'd share this here on my blog instead.

I was wondering if I could ask of you a favor.  The success of this magazine depends greatly on contributions from readers and getting the word out that the magazine is available.  If you're reading this, would you please consider posting about it on your blogs and Facebook pages?  Mary Anne Richardson, Cathy Kizerian, Kathy Shaw and I work very hard to pull this magazine together.  The more the news spreads about the magazine, the more successful it will become and that will make it better and better!  Here is the cover photo.  Just right click on it and save it to your hard drive then you can upload it to your blog post:

And this is the link to order it:  http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/905756

Just right click on the link, "copy link location" and paste it into your blog post.

Thank you to everyone who is willing to post about and help promote it!

End Of Year Ramblings

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas.  Ours was very nice but I confess, it felt good to have some down time today.

To everyone who sent me Happy Birthday wishes, both from here and on Facebook, thank you very much!  It was so nice that so many of my online friends remembered since I didn't mention it before Christmas.  My birthday is Christmas Eve.

In other news, the 2015 Spring issue of Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine is just about done.  I'm waiting on 1 final photo which I can pop into place and then into a PDF file it goes.  It will be released on February 1st but I will share a sneak peek of the cover design on New Years Day so be sure to stop back!

I've pretty much gotten the hang of this new computer now and Photoshop.  Photoshop is a bit more complicated than what I was used to with Corel graphic software but certainly nothing that I couldn't figure out.  I even did a new banner for my Etsy shop for Valentines Day:

I have a few new things to add to shop which I'll do tomorrow.  I also have a new pillow project that I'm finishing up so I'll have 2 of those to sew together in the next few days.  And I need to sew some more blocks up because I have nothing on the back burner to stitch on now.

Once I get the tree and other Christmas decorations down and put away, I want get the roses stenciled in my new little pink room.  Then I can take photos and share them here.  Why do I always feel like there's more to do than what time permits?  Maybe I have way more ambition than time?  Who knows!  But I'll get it done!

So for now, I have laundry to fold.  I got so behind on that and now I'll  be playing catch up through tomorrow.  But again, I'll get it done.  Eventually!

Call For Magazine Submissions

I just got off the phone with Adobe.  I will be making the switch from the Corel line of graphic software to Adobe Photoshop.  I'm still kind of old school I guess.  I'm used to going over to Best Buy, purchasing software on a CD and installing it on my computer that way.  Now everything is subscriptions done via online downloads.

I had some questions that weren't covered on Adobe's website so I just called.  Wow!  I got a person immediately who I could understand!  No waiting on hold for hours!  The lady had to transfer me and again, I got a nice person who answered right away and explained the entire process to me!  I was on and off the phone in 5 minutes!  I think Dell could learn some lessons from Adobe!!!!

Okay, this is just a quick post for right now.  If I have time later, I'll post some photos of my recent Crazy Quilt project.  Yes, I have been stitching through my Dell Disaster!

I'm going to be wrapping up the Spring issue of Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine soon so I want to put the call out for submissions for the Summer issue.  The overall theme will be Seascapes.  The issue won't be limited to seascapes but I think that will be a nice focus since ocean themes elude many crazy quilters.

I'm looking for articles, tutorials and eye candy with fish, the ocean floor, anemones and so on.  Certainly feel free to send anything you would like to submit to my email but if you've done seascapes, I want to see it!!!!

As soon as I wrap up the Spring issue, I will be starting on the Summer issue.  I know everyone is busy with Christmas but if you can take a break and send me submissions, that would be awesome!

I'm also accepting ads for the Summer issue now as well so please contact me if you would like to promote your Etsy shop or other needlework related business.

Finally, on New Year's Day, I will post a sneak peek of the Spring issue.  Stop back then to see the cover!
