Embroidered Basket

Basket

I stitched up this little basket yesterday. I haven't rinsed or pressed it yet. I'd like to sew up a few more CQ blocks later this week and I might work this little piece into one.

Besides Crinoline Ladies, little flower filled baskets were a popular theme for embroidered linens back in the 30's and 40's.

You're not kidding about those baskets of flowers being popular back then, Pam - I have about 30 tablecloths with those designs, and countless doilies. Would you like to see some of them? I can whip the smaller ones into the scanner very easily.

OK Pam, I will dig some of them out and put them on Patra's Place in the next day or so. Things are a bit haywire here at the moment. Ken has just got his new laptop connected to the Net via my broadband connection, and we are both experiencing weird things on our respective computers. I am biting my tongue not to scream at him "If you didn't have to have the latest toy, this wouldn't be happening!!" He is new to all this, and has had to rely on a mate to set him up, and you know what men are like. They hate admitting they don't know how to do things!!

Gina, I'm looking forward to seeing them! Yes, I know how men are! Thankfully, my husband doesn't know anything about computers and I'm thankful for that! He doesn't mess with either one of mine. He doesn't even know how to get online or send an email. He's a car guy and that's just fine with me!

Ken is also a Car guy..a bike man really (motorcycles), and I wish he'd stayed that way! We almost came to blows tonight - and in front of his pal who was here to put some more gizmos on his laptop. I wanted to use the scanner, but Ken had unplugged it, and I couldn't find the right cord, there is such an awful tangle of them behind the computer! I was scrabbling around on my hands and knees, cursing him, and he stormed out of the room bellowing and ranting...His mate just looked the other way, grinning - his wife has a temper too! By the way, I did get the baskets of flowers doilies on my blog, after all that :)
