Bead Embellished Bonnet Lady

Bonnet5
Originally uploaded by Kitty And Me.
I finished my little Bonnet Lady last night. With the exception of the hair, face and arms, all embroidery was worked with DMC Varigated threads. I replaced all of the French Knots with beads. Petite white Mill Hill beads are on the bodice and sleeves and the flower centers are glass seed beads.

On the transfer, the flowers on the hat looked like apples to me so I used some larger rosey pink beads there.

At the bottom of the dress, I added a piece of lace and again embellished it with some Mill Hill glass seed beads.

I'm not sure which manufacturer did this transfer design. It came in a batch of misc. loose transfers that I found at a flea market.

Beautiful piece - it almost looks frosted in the picture.

And I think this is the first time I have noticed your changed template - so it must be new too.

Very lovely. :)

She's lovely. The word 'charming' springs to mind.

She is gorgeous!! What are you going to do with her? Frame as she is, or use in a quilt??

Gina, I think I'll make her into a pillow. Haven't really decided yet for sure though. I can see a whole quilt made with various bonnet ladies.

Ooohh..a quilt to die for...wonder if one of my quilting friends would do that for me, if I supplied enough crinoline ladies? I certainly have enough doilies and tablecloths, but I couldn't bear to see any of them cut up:( even for a quilt!!

Gina, maybe you could start to collect some damaged doilies and other table linens. Here in the US, they're easy to find at flea markets and antique shops for just a 1 or 2 dollars. Most times, there's some nice useable areas on them.
