Purple Cellphone Pouch

I've been busy as a bee stitching on cellphone pouches and finished up on my purple one early this morning:

I used my waste canvas technique for this seam embroidery:

And I used Sharon B's CQ stencils for the crazy quilt stitches on these seams:

The combination of my charted borders and Sharon's stencils gives me an excellent variety of borders!

Here's a closeup of the grapes:

The grapes are a vintage brooch that I picked up at an antique shop a few years ago.  I made the leaves from a piece of green velvet.

I'll get these last few projects sewn in later this week and show photos of the completed projects.

Sneak Peek

I finished up stitching on my last cellphone pouch:

All of the borders on this piece are in my upcoming "Elegant Crazy Quilt Seam Treatments" Volume 3.

I plan to get these sewn up and in the shop this coming week.

I also started on a little Autumn door hanger:

And here's a closeup of the that pretty green seam treatment which also is a border coming soon in Volume 3:

I've been experimenting with a few different ideas, one of which you can see on this door pillow.  Look for the leaf border stitched on 14 count Aida.  That border is from Volume 1.

I have loads of new ideas so if you don't already follow my blog, please do so you don't miss out on some cool new crazy quilt techniques!

Red and Black Purse Is Done

I sewed up my red and black purse yesterday morning and then did the hand finishing yesterday afternoon:

I'm not really a red person but this was a nice change of scenery for me.

And here is an update on my current cellphone pouch:

The seam embroidery is from Volume 3 of my Elegant Crazy Quilt Seam Treatments Book.  It's coming soon!

More Cellphone Pouches

I've been stitching on some little cellphone pouches for my Etsy shop.  I completed this one this morning:

And I'll start stitching on this one later this afternoon:

I sewed up the black and red purse this morning that finished last week so all I have left to do is the handwork.  I'll have photos of that soon.

For now, I'm going spend and hour or two working on Volume 3 of Elegant Crazy Quilt Seam Treatments.

Also if you're using kittyandme.com to access my blog, please bookmark me at http://www.kittyandmedesigns.blogspot.com/ .

And if you email me using my kittyandme email address, please change your address book to this one.

I've decided to drop the domain name for my blog so it'll default back to the blogspot address and I'll lose my kitty and me email address but that's okay since that's where most of my junk email comes from.

Crazy Quilt Cellphone Pouches

I finally finished up my little Crazy Quilt Cellphone Pouches:

I love making these little pouches.  Well, except for sewing the snaps on!  LOL!!!  I think I'll sew up a few more the next time I have a sewing machine day.

Today I'll be heading over to my mom's house to help her with Thanksgiving for tomorrow.  First, I have to run to WalMart for a few things.  I want to get there early before everyone else does!

A quick update on my dad.  It wasn't a kidney stone.  Surgery is scheduled for the first week in December.  May I say that I absolutely hate the "C" word!!!!!  I think everything will be okay.  I hope so anyway.  It hasn't completely sunk into my crazy ADD brain yet.  Please keep him in your thoughts for me.

On a final note, we offering 10% off at our Boutiques now through Sunday, November 27th.  Use Coupon Code:  BlackFriday at Kitty and Me Designs & Kitty and Me on Etsy.

Pink Rose Cellphone Pouch Stitching Complete

I finished up on my Pink Rose Cellphone Pouch yesterday:

Look closely at the lace appliques.  I didn't want the leaves to cover my seam treatment on the right so I gave it a 3 dimensional look by bending that leaf on the right in a downward position.

I loved the way it looked so did something similar with the other 2 leaves and then beaded it all.  I also left the edges of the pink flowers floppy meaning, I didn't tack them down a the tips of the petals.  They're only tacked in the middle and then further supported with the bead work.  It's a little hard to see in the photo but it's quite 3 dimensional and a very interesting technique which I plan to do again on future projects.

Click on the photos to see larger versions.

And here is the seam embroidery for this pouch:

Both of these seam treatments are worked using waste canvas.

I have more 1 cellphone pouch that to stitch and then hopefully, over the weekend, I can assemble them and do the hand finishing:

The colors on this one feel a little odd to me but I know I can work with it.  Let's see where this one goes!

Needful Things

My sweet friend Pat Winter always refers to crazy quilt supplies as "needful things".  Ok, so I stopped at my favorite stitching store yesterday afternoon, Welcome Stitchery in Crystal Lake, Illinois.  I needed waste canvas.  And I of course came out with more than just that!

My favorite threads to stitch with are the Watercolours by The Caron Collection.  These are a 3 ply thread and I use a single strand which is pretty equal to a #5 perle cotton.  I love the shaded threads and since I have a tendency to pile on the embellishments, I like a little bit heavier thread so my stitching shows up!  So, I needed 3 new colors of that.

My second favorite threads are the Kreinik metallics!  I needed (I really did) a gold #4 braid but I've also been collecting the Hologram Blending Filaments for my spider webs.  So I picked up the silver and the red Hologram Blending Filament and those are my needful things for the day!  It's my story and I'm sticking to it!

When I got home, I started stitching a little cellphone pouch:

I thought I'd make a few cellphone pouches for Christmas gifts.  And speaking of my sweet friend Pat, purples and greens always make me think of her!

Here's the news on my dad, so far, none of the test results found anything abnormal.  They're going to do one more test, and if that's normal, then it was most likely a small kidney stone.  Mom is already trying to get him to drink more water!

Thank you everyone for keeping him in your thoughts.

A Little Crazy Quilt Eye Candy

I'm all over the place these days!  We're working on getting the yard and house ready so I can teach classes here at home.  I'm doing some simplifying around here too.  Cleaning out some things, rearranging and organizing my stash (something I always love doing) and mom & I just started to put together a couple of cookbooks.  Mom's will be doing a compilation of her best recipes which go back to when I was little!

Mine will be a collection of my muffin recipes.  Since I like to experiment with different ingredients, I've really come up with some great and unique muffin recipes.  So we're starting work on putting these together which means mom will be cooking more and I will be baking more (thank goodness our neighbors love what we make) so we can have good photos of everything!

Of course I'm stitching too.  Here's a little Crazy Quilt eye candy:
This is a little cellphone pouch.  I plan to sew this up over the weekend.

This too will be a little cellphone pouch.  It's ready for beading but I wanted to share it at this point so you can see what my seam treatments look like using my waste canvas technique.  Perfectly sized and spaced stitches, everytime!  I'll start the beading on it today and I should be able to do the finishing over the weekend.

Crazy Quilt Kitty I Phone Pouch

I had a custom order for an I Phone Pouch with a kitty:
I was going to use a little kitty charm on this but then I remembered that I had that sweet little vintage rhinestone cat pin.  It was perfect for this pouch!  I've already shipped it out to my customer.  If you'd like to see more of my Cellphone pouches, there are some on my website.  This one is a neck pouch but I also make them without the chain.

Crazy Quilt I Phone Pouches

I mentioned the other day that Bubba & I had to breakdown and get us some new cellphones.  The old ones were on their last legs.  It was a little hard for me to give up my pink Razor.  I mean, I loved my pink cellphone!  And I hate having to learn how to work new cellphones!

We decided this time around, we would splurge just a bit and get I Phones.  I must admit, it's nice to be able to check my email without turning on the big computer or the laptop!  But after having it for 4 weeks, I still haven't set up my voicemail!

Anyway, because of the glass touch screen, I decided it would be best to keep it in a pouch, esp. when it's in my purse.  Heaven only knows when my keys might get a bee in their bonnet and decide to have a wild party the expense of my cellphone!  LOL!

So far, I've stitched 2 pouches:
The pink one is mine and the purple one will go in the boutique.  I'd like to get these sewn up over the weekend.  I have some more pouches to stitch.  No, I never do one of anything!  But first, I have a custom order for one of my crazy quilt Cat Dolls so I'll start on that now.  Then I'll stitch up some more pouches!
