Pink Saturday - 9/11 Rememberance

I was taking a little break from Pink Saturday's but then Beverly emailed us and said that we could do something in rememberance of 9/11.  I decided to contribute this week.

In 2002, I made this sampler:

This is a one of a kind sampler.  I made it up as I stitched.  I just started at the top and worked my way down until I ran out of fabric.  I just had it framed this Summer.  Yes, I know, 2002 - 2010.  What can I say?  Framing is expensive!

Anyway, the reason I chose this for my Pink Saturday post is because I included a remembrance to 9/11 on this sampler:

Forget not the 11th day of the 9th month of the year 2001.

So that's my Pink Saturday 9/11 remembrance.

I'd like to thank Beverly, our sweet Pink Saturday hostess.  Please take a moment to visit her blog and perhaps if time permits, visit some of the other sweet Pink Saturday bloggers.

Before I head off line for now, I'm still accepting drawing entries for my Sewing Art Quilt:

The drawing will be held when I reach 300 followers.  For more details, please click here.

Finally for today, if you cope with depression or anxiety, you might find my series of "Creatively Coping" articles helpful.  Click here if you would like read them.

Happy Pink Saturday!

Another lovely PINK SATURDAY!  I so look forward to this event every week.  It's so much fun to see what Pink Bloggers are sharing!

Today, I have a prize flea market find.  I purchases this pair of kittens with roses back in October for only $12.00:

I was absolutely in love with them the minute I saw them!

I have no idea how old they are or where they came from.  I just loved them so I bought them!

And speaking of kitties, here is a rare photo of my Simba & Nightmare laying on the same chair:

Nightmare is quite dominant and that is Simba's chair so I was a little surprised to see them together like this!

Finally for today, the drawing for my little Sewing Art Quilt continues:

When I reach 300 Followers, my husband will draw a name from the basket.  I can't to see who the winner is!  To learn more about how to enter, click here.

I'd like to take a moment to thank Beverly, our Pink Saturday hostess for including me in in another lovely Pink Saturday.  Please take a moment to visit Beverly's blog and while you're there, visit a few of the other Pink Saturday bloggers!

Happy Pink Saturday! Pink Lemonade Lady!!!!

Happy Pink Saturday everyone!  I pushed myself just a twinge to get this completed in time for this week's Pink Saturday presentation.  I cannot tell you how much I love this crazy quilt piece!

This sweet little lady is drinking lemonade and surrounded by pink roses worked in silk ribbon embroidery!  I actually bought the frame first, in a resale shop so this is a trash to treasure project!!!  I worked the crazy quilt block to go with the frame.

It's entirely embroidered and beaded by hand.  I added some vintage millinery flowers to the bottom corner of the frame for just a touch of vintage charm!

As much as I hate to part with it, I just know that there's someone who will absolutely love to have it so I've added it to my Etsy shop.

So that's my Pink Saturday post for today everyone!  I'd like to say a special thank you to our gracious host Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for allowing me to participate in Pink Saturday.  Please stop by her blog for a visit and while you're there, check out some of the other lovely Pink Saturday Bloggers!

Also, my drawing for this pretty little Sewing Art Quilt continues:

Happy Pink Saturday!!! A Very Pink Surprise Gift!

Happy Pink Saturday everyone!  I always so look forward to this weekly event hosted by Beverly at How Sweet The Sound blog!

Earlier this week, I received a lovely goody package from my friend Mary Anne!  I mentioned here on my blog, that I was in search of pink eyelash yarn so that I could make a pink peacock purse, similar to this one:

Well, my friend Mary Anne found some in her neck of the woods.  Little did I know that she would put together a whole package of lovely pink craft supplies for me!!!  The box was even wrapped in pink rose paper!!  It was gorgeous!

Inside the box, Mary Anne included 2 lace butterfly appliques, some pretty beads and some little cat charms:

Mary Anne's notecard was also pink!!!  And here are the lovely skeins of pink eyelash yarn that she sent to me:

Are these gorgeous or what?!!  The multi-colored yarns are incredible!!!  What a lovely surprise.  And as you can see, even the tissue paper is pink. Thank you Mary Anne for such a wonderful gift!

Before I head out today, I wanted to remind everyone that I'm having a drawing and this sweet little Sewing Art Quilt is the prize:

Happy Pink Saturday!!!

Hello everyone!  And Happy Pink Saturday!!!  What a fun blog-land activity!

I finished putting together my Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt purse and I've been saving it for my Pink Saturday post.  So without delay, here it is:

Marie Antoinette Purse

The back is rose colored velvet and the inside is lined with a pink rose print.  I had pink handles but they were a little too bright so I went with the clear handles.

I also thought you would enjoy seeing a Mini Art Quilt that my mom made for me:

Pennies From Heaven

This has always been my favorite photo of my mom.  She was about 1 year old here.  It was taken by a professional photographer in 1941.  The song "Pennies From Heaven" was popular at that time so that's what my grandparents called this photo.

So that's my post for this Pink Saturday.  Thank you so much for stopping by!  Please hop over and visit our gracious Pink Saturday host, Beverly.  You can find her here at How Sweet The Sound.  Be sure to visit some of the other sweet pink bloggers!!

Also, be sure to enter my drawing to win this sweet little Sewing Art Quilt:

There are 3 chances to win and you can find the details here in this post!

Happy Pink Saturday!!!

Happy Pink Saturday everyone!  Again, I'm just thrilled to be part of this really fun pink blog experience!  This is such a wonderful way to connect with other pink bloggers!

I had a really fun pink thing to post about this week but like last Saturday, I decided to put it off one more week due to an amazing find at last weekend's flea market!

I do not collect teapots but I found this last weekend at a little flea market not far from our home and I just had to have it!  And, I immediately thought that it would be great to share on Pink Saturday so I've been saving it for today.  So here it is:

Isn't it gorgeous!!!  It's not old.  It has a sticker on the bottom that says, "Made In China".  I had to have it!  It's pink, it's heart shaped,it has roses on it, it has a pearly finish on it and it was only $3.00!!!  What a treasure!

So that's my Pink Saturday post for this week!  I'd like to say thank you to our gracious host Beverly for including me in Pink Saturday again.  If you're interested in sharing your lovely pink things, please visit Beverly's How Sweet The Sound blog for more details.  And please take a few moments to visit some of the other lovely Pink Bloggers!

Happy Pink 4th Of July Saturday!

Hello everyone!  Happy Pink Saturday and Happy 4th of July!!!  I'm thrilled to be participating Beverly's Pink Saturday again!  What a fun way to bring the pink blogging community together!

I had a really fun idea as to what "pink" to share this week but I decided I would save it for next week due to the holiday weekend.  I know everyone is out and about and celebrating so for this week, I thought I would share my one and only 4th Of July do-dad:

As you can see, it's not red, white & blue, it's pink and blue!  My mom made this for me a few weeks ago.  She knows I can't stand much in the way of bright colors so she made me a patriotic table mat in soft pastel colors! Very patriotic but soothing on my nerves!

So that's my contribution to Pink Saturday this week.  I'd like to wish everyone a Happy & safe 4th Of July!

And a special thank you to our host Beverly at How Sweet The Sound Blog.  Please hop over to Beverly's blog and visit some of the other lovely pink contributers!

Happy Pink Saturday! My Pink Needlework!

Hello everyone!  I'm thrilled to be participating in Pink Saturday again this week!

Today, I thought you would enjoy seeing my Pink Needlework.  I adore needlework.  I always say I was born with a needle in my hand.  My mom and grandma taught me to stitch when I was around 8 years old.  I've done everything from old-fashioned outline embroidery (I've been collecting vintage embroidery transfer patterns for years), to needlepoint, punch needle embroidery, counted cross stitch, art quilting, Elizabethan Blackwork and so on.  I've done almost every type of needlework imaginable!  My absolute passion is crazy quilting.

With that said, I will get on with my pink photos!  First, my little kittens in a basket:

Pink Saturday

I stitched this piece a few years back.  It currently hangs in my bathroom.  The pattern is a vintage Vogart embroidery pattern.  My dad made the simple frame and I hand painted it.

The next piece is a decorative towel that I made for my bathroom a few years ago.  It's a peekaboo kitty and also from a vintage Vogart embroidery pattern:

Pink Saturday

This pretty project hangs in my computer/craft supply room.  It's a design I did awhile back when I was designing counted cross stitch for magazines.  It's called, "Garden Jewels".  I adore hummingbirds and I thought they would be pretty with some colorful fruit.  I did not stitch this piece.  It was worked by my dear friend Kim:

Pink Saturday

This lovely pillow is another design from my large collection of vintage embroidery transfer patterns.  I crayon tinted the cardinal bird and then did the embroidery:

Pink Saturday

This pillow is a small piece that I stitched back in the 80's.  It was a pre-stamped design:

Pink Saturday

Here's how they look sitting in my white wicker rocking chair:

Pink Saturday

I bought this precious little sampler at a flea market this past October.  I only paid $12.00 for it!  All that stitching and it was only $12.00!!!  There's something really sad about that.  At least to me.  Anyway, it's dated on the back and was stitched in the mid-70's.  I left it in the original frame:

Pink Saturday

Last but not least, is my Pink Crazy Garden Quilt.  I know many of my followers have seen this numerous times but in case anyone visits who hasn't seen it, I thought I'd post it again.  As I said, Crazy Quilting is my true passion:

Floral Crazy Quilt Finished 2

I entered the photo at a contest that is hosted by Daisy at Daisy Pink Cupcake blog.  To be truthful, I don't even know what the prizes are.  I would just love to win!  If you haven't voted yet, please hop over.  My quilt photo is #7.

And speaking of contests, my sweet friend Pat Winter is hosting a Give Away.  Please visit her blog for the details.  All entries must be entered by Friday June 25th Midnight CST.  If you've never been to Pat's blog, you're in for a real eye-candy treat!  Pat's photos are gorgeous.  Her Crazy Quilting is pure perfection and she currently has studio photos on her blog which will make you drool all over your keyboard!  You will love Pat's blog!!!!  Oh, and I forgot to mention the photos of Pat's beautiful home!  Pure eye-candy!

In other news, I will be hosting guest bloggers twice a month.  I thought it would be fun to introduce my readers to some of my favorite bloggers.  My first guest blogger will be posting on July 1st.  Please be sure to stop by for that.  My first guest is an incredibly gifted crazy quilter and she collects many of the same things that I do!  I know you will enjoy meeting her.

I will have the final installment of my Art Quilting 101 Tutorial in a few days.  I need to put it together and take photos for you as I go along.  I spent most of today running errands and cleaning.  Although I really wanted to sew, I never feel right about doing fun stuff until my chores are done!

Finally for today, Kathi has worked 3 more pairs of the Pink Resin Kitty earrings that have been so incredibly popular:

Pink Cat Earrings

These are the last 3 pairs that will be available.  Kathi wanted everyone who wanted a pair to have the opportunity to purchase them.  They are in the shop now so if you've been wanting a pair, please order as Kathi will not be making any more in this style.

I will leave you with Kathi's newest pretties:

Happy Pink Saturday !

I am thrilled to be participating in Beverly's Pink Saturday!  This is my first contribution and I thought it would be fun to share my pink Crazy Quilt purses!

First, is my Pink Rose Purse.  A vintage machine embroidered hankie with pink roses is the focal point for this one which is one of my favorites!  I use this one quite a bit!  Silk Ribbon Embroidery, charms and loads of beads & sequins give this a soft, cottage style garden look!

Pink Rose Purse

My next purse is my Pink Poodle Purse!  Very fun!!!  I used a vintage embroidery pattern for the poodle which I crayon tinted and then glittered.  Vintage trims and vintage buttons give this purse a lot of interest!  The trim at the bottom is from part of a vintage dress!  It makes the purse a bit heavy, but it's just so cute and so pink!

Pink Poodle Purse

This purse is my Pink Lady Purse.  I did this purse to carry around Valentine's Day.  I wanted something pink with hearts but didn't want it to scream Valentines.  I actually carry this one quite a bit.  A vintage photo of a pretty lady in pink is enhanced with hand-dyed lace.  Silk Ribbon Embroidery, beading and sequins give it dimension and sparkle.  A vintage brooch and vintage rhinestone button add charm and grace to this purse.  I finished the bottom off with vintage lace that I hand dyed.

Pink Lady Purse

Last but not least, my newest pink purse, Girl With A Doll.  A vintage photo of a little girl with her doll is the focal point for this pretty bag.  I digitally added some color to the image.  Hand-painted lace, vintage trims, beads, sequins, charms, buttons and a butterfly brooch encrust this purse and it's matching key-chain.  Notice the 3-dimensional beaded leaves!

Girl With Doll Purse

This purse is available here.

I'd like to say thank you again to Beverly for including me in Pink Saturday.  I'm thrilled to be part of this fun pink day!  Please hop over to Beverly's How Sweet The Sound Blog and visit some of the other participants!
