Nightmare And Lucy

Nightmare And Lucy
Originally uploaded by Kitty And Me.
I went through my CD of our photos and thought I had a better one of my Nightmare but so far, this was the best I could come up with. Nightmare isn't one to sit still for too long. He's a very busy cat!

Nightmare has been with me since he was 3 weeks old. He along with his brothers and sisters were found on a construction site not far from here. They were only about a week old. The workers took the kittens to my vets office and they tried to catch the mother kitty too but she wouldn't cooperate. Anyway, we adopted Nightmare. He'll be 10 years old the end of October.

Scott refers to Nightmare as "pure concentrated evil". He's definately the bully of the group.

My cross stitch followers already know the story of how Nightmare got his name. Shortly after we adopted him, Scott was trying to put lights on our Christmas tree and this little one kept climbing it. After pulling him out several times, Scott finally said to him, "you are such a little nightmare!" We decided that name was perfect and as time went on, we've learned that we made the right choice!

Nightmare is always into something. As I said, he's a very busy cat. He's had a heart problem since he was a year old and has been on medication ever since. You'd never know it. He's trouble with a capital "T"! But he's very smart and very beautiful he very much keeps us on our toes!

There must be something about Black Cats that makes them devilish. Ken chose Topsy from about 50 kittens at the Cat Protection Society near us. I chose another one - black with white bib, white paws and enormous white whiskers. But Ken was adamant - he had to have an all-black cat. Well, that backfired when we got her home and discovered a small diamond shaped white patch under her chin. Since then, she has grown into the naughtiest pussy we have ever had - very destructive, and not very loving to Ken! Definitely another Nightmare.

Gina, I can't say that our Nightmare isn't affectionate with us because he is, but it's in his time not ours.

If you've ever seen CATS the musical, Nightmare is a combination of McCavity and Rum Tum Tugger. He has a really strong personality. And like your kitty, Nightmare can be really naughty and really destructive if the mood suits him.

Yes, they are NAUGHTY, aren't they? I have an all-black girl(except for the few"grey hairs" on the top of her head) and her name is Kit-ten. She was a rescue from the road by our house. It was fall and the farmers were in the fields and leaving all kinds of dirt clumps on the road and an suv ahead of me swerved around a clump. I could not figure out what his problem was, until the clot looked at me with glowing eyes. Thank god for brakes. She was about 4 weeks old and it had just rained, she was soaking wet and scared. I coaxed her out of the ditch and she was going to stay with us"just until I find her a good home"HA! 5 years later, and here she is. She tackles Sassafrass Root whenever she can. She loves the scratching post to death. I wouldn't trade her or any other of my cats for all the money in the world!!
