Never Ending Sampler Panel 3 Band 8

Today I have Band 8 for Panel 3 of the Never Ending Sampler Stitch Along Project:

Here is band 3 by itself:

This band is worked entirely with straight stitches.  As always, feel free to add beads if you like.

Here it is with the Band 7 overlap:

While I'm at it, if you're stitching on this project, could you please leave a comment and let me know? I'm trying to determine how many people are still interested in this.  Thanks!

Crazy Quilt Trinket Block Under The Sea Seascape

As promised, here is my latest completed Crazy Quilt Trinket block:

Obviously, this one has an under the sea seascape theme.  The large fish was a gift from my husband.  He bought it at an antique shop.  I don't know where I got the little fishes at the top.  They're small pins and I used to wear them on my jean jacket back in the 80's.

If you look very closely, there's a little bit of symbolism on this block.  Down on the right-hand corner, you'll see a tiny "Pizza Hut" pin.  I used to work in management back in the 80's.  That's where Scott and I met.  To the left of it, there's a tiny "diamond" ring.  I'm sure you can figure that one out!  He proposed to me back when we worked there.  We were married in 1988.

The little purple tendrils to the left on the bottom are tatted.  If you "cast on" all in one direction, you'll get these pretty little twisted tendrils which are perfect for seascapes!

Seascape Trinket Block

I've been working on my little 6 inch crazy quilt trinket blocks.  I can't believe how many I have done already!  I have a whole boxful with a lot more blocks to go!

My current block has a seascape theme:

This block still has a ways to go.  I have a beautiful vintage fish brooch that Scott bought me years ago at an antique shop down in Peoria Illinois.  That will go on last.  It's quite weighty so I'll have to make sure it's well anchored.

I think I mentioned last week that these blocks are the purpose of showcasing all the little trinkets and do-dads that I've collected over the years.  Things that go back to my childhood, things that were given to me, little things from loved ones long gone.  Some blocks will be for the sake of memories, others will represent things that I love and some may be just for fun.

These blocks will eventually get sewn into multiple wall quilts but I'm not focused on that right now. I'm really into piecing the blocks and stitching them to showcase my do-dads of which I have plenty!!!!  However, flea market season is starting next month.....need I say more?  LOL!!!

I'll post an update when I finish this one.

Another Crazy Quilt Trinket Block

I finished stitching up another Crazy Quilt Trinket block yesterday:

The little snowman cross stitch piece was designed by Meridel Abrahms.  She did the design quite a few years ago but I always loved it so I stitched up last Summer for this crazy quilt project.

At the top right-hand corner of the snowman piece, you'll find a beautiful vintage rhinestone earring.

At the bottom in the center is a Czech Glass Button that I bought from Ebay a long time ago.

I've been working on this trinket quilt for awhile now.  I put it down when things were so chaotic with my husband's cancer treatment.  I decided to go back to it 2 weeks ago when I lost Lucy.

I still have a lot of great little things that I've collected over the years so I have no idea how many blocks there will be.  A lot of them!!!  I'm working on Block #26 now.

I plan to keep going until I use all my little things.  I'm keeping the backgrounds all pastel.  I may end up putting together several quilts depending on how many blocks I have when I'm done but that's a long way down the road.  For now, I'll just keep stitching.

And with flea market season just around the corner, there may be more trinkets!!!
