Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt Pillow

I have a cute photo of Cotton to share with you today but first, I finished up on my St Patricks Day Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt Pillow.  Well, the stitching is done.  If all goes well, perhaps I can sew it together tomorrow:

Be sure to look closely at the dress.  I used some organza ribbon to accent the ruffles and I beaded the bottom of the skirt!  I also highlighted the fab with a few straight stitches in light grey.  Those few little touches make the image pop instead of it falling into the background.

Now, for this cute picture of Cotton:

Scott and I were watching a documentary on National Geographic channel about Hummingbirds.  Cotton sat in front of the television the entire hour and watched all the little birdies!  He was fascinated with them.  It's not at all uncommon for him to watch TV but I thought this was cute!

Marie Antoinette St Patricks Day Pillow

Sorry for disappearing over the weekend.  I get caught up in things and sometimes just don't get back to the computer or run out of time and don't get over here to my blog.  Anyway, thank you to everyone who took a guess on which pillow was my favorite.  For those of you who guessed this one, you were right!  I love this one with the little white kitty in the teacup!  And it's pink!

I've been working on another pillow, this one with a Marie Antoinette St Patricks Day theme.  Yes, it's kind of a silly combination but I've always loved this vintage postcard image:

I'm going to go put a ham in the oven and then wash my kitchen floor.  Once that's done, I'll stitch on this until Bubba gets home.

Oh, I also have a few other finishes to share.  First, a couple of things that mom made:

Mom loves making Door Knob Hangers!  And then she made this Small Pillow from a vintage tablerunner:

And I made some little Valentine Hanging Ornaments.  I hand dyed some quilt batting an old pink color and then filled them with hearts and doves:

All are available in my Etsy shop.

I think I'll make some of those little bags for St. Patricks Day.  I'm already thinking constantly of Spring.  I've had enough snow, cold and freezing rain this Winter to last me the rest of my life!!!  I have tulips, daffodils, shamrocks, bunnies and robin birds all floating around in my head!  So who knows what I'll come up with next!

Marie Antoinette

I just added a few more of my Marie Antoinette items to my Etsy shop.  I thought to myself, how in the world did I get into making so many Marie Antoinette themed items?  I think I like the bling and fluffiness of Marie Antoinette.  The girlie stuff so to speak.  I can't say I'll be doing too much more in the way of Queen Marie projects but for now, I thought I'd showcase the things I've made on that theme.

First and foremost is my Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt:
I also made a Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt purse:

And then there was my Marie Antoinette Framed Crazy Quilt piece:
Marie Antoinette Brooches:

Marie Antoinette Jewelry Box:

Marie Anointette Art Quilt:
Marie Antoinette Journal:
 Marie Antoinette Gift Tags:
Geez Louise!  How in the world did I get into the whole Marie Antoinette thing?  LOL!!!

Ok, I think I've had enough of that theme.  At least for now.  It's time for a new theme.  Maybe peacocks?  Hmmmmm......there is something already in the works.  Stay tuned!

Also, today is Tuesday so it's Tuesday's Treasures at Shabby Lane Shops!  Be sure to visit all of the great shops that participate in this fun weekly sales event!  And of course, you have to visit my Boutique to see what we have on special for the Tuesday's Treasures!

Upate On Marie Antoinette Quilt Block #9

I went to Michael's on Monday with mom and I picked up some alphabet beads.  I wanted to spell out Marie's name on this final block.  Out of 2 packages of alphabet beads, there were only 2 "T's"!  Can you believe it?  I have something like 8 "X's" and only 2 "T's"!  I need 3.  So spelling out her name will have to wait until tomorrow when I go to WalMart.  In the meantime, this is the block at this point:

I will put this block on hold until tomorrow.  In the meantime, I'll have to find some other things to do.

Marie Antoinette Crazyquilt Block #8 Done!

I finished up on Block #8 of my Marie Antoinette Crazyquilt this morning:
I'm very pleased with how this block came out.  I have one more block to stitch up and then I can start the assembly process.  I still have my Button Quilt blocks to put together as well.

I know it looks like like I accomplish a lot and I do.  But when it comes to bigger projects, like finishing a quilt, yes, my ADD gets in the way.  I know how to break things down into manageable sections but sometimes getting started is a challenge for me.  I think once I get the last block for the Marie quilt stitched, I'll be able to focus on getting both this one and the Button quilt put together.  Stayed tuned for those everyone!

In other news, I'm almost up to 400 Followers!  Yay!!!!  I'm going to have a drawing for one of my cat dolls when we hit that 400 mark.  Feel free to pass the news around!  I'll stitch up the cat doll next before I move on to the final block of Marie.

Marie Block #8 Almost Done!

I've been stitching on this block, adding beads and flowers:
The next thing I'll do is embellish that lace piece on top right.  I want to do some sequins and some silk ribbon embroidery on it.

It's almost done!  I have a hummingbird that I want to add to this block and I think a fancy button.  Can't remember at the moment.  Anyway, I'll post another update when it's complete!

Marie Antoinette Block #8 Continued

I've started the beading on Block #8 of my Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt:

I'm really getting excited about this quilt now.  I think it'll be so pretty hanging in my Living Room.  As much as I love my Crazy Garden quilt from last year, I think I love this one more!

I'm off to do some more beading before I have to go toWalMart.

Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt Block #8

Being that today is the first full day of Spring, I thought I'd better get a move on with my Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt!
After running into town this morning and doing some paperwork, I took several hours for myself and started stitching.  This is the block with the lace & trims:
And here it is with the seams embroidered:
Can you find the borders that are from my Elegant Crazy Quilt Seam Treatment book?

Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt Block #7

Block #7 of my Marie Antoinette themed Crazy Quilt is complete:

Those leaves are not purple, they're pink.

I'm so eager to work on the last 2 blocks!  I picked up what I need to finish this quilt when I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday.  And if you remember the Button Crazy Quilt that I stitched before I got sick, I bought what I needed to put that one together too.  Stay tuned!

Crazy Quilting - Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt Block #5

Well, now that the holidays are behind us and our Shabby Chic Boutique is at it's new location, I was finally able to get back to my Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt.  This is Block #5 before I started stitching on it:

And here it is with some Embroidery and trims:

I found that little fan at a Flea Market over the summer.  It's a real fan that opens and closes!  I've been saving it for the center block of this Crazy Quilt.

I sewed it down which was a challenge but where there's a will, there's a way! I just made some soup and some bread so now I can stitch the rest of the evening!

And So It's December.....

A difficult time of year for me but with my Winter project and other activities, I'll get through it.

I finished up on Block #3 of my Marie Antoinette quilt:
And as a refresher, here is Block #2:
And here is Block #1:
I'll wait about a week and then I'll start on Block #4.  In the meantime, for those of you who love this time of year, I thought you would enjoy this sweet little video from the 1950's.

Marie Antoinette Quilt Block 3

I mentioned in my post earlier today, that I wasn't feeling great for a few days so I was taking it easy.  I did some small projects and started on Block #3 of my Marie Antoinette Quilt.  This is the block before I did any stitching on it:

And this is what it looks like at the moment:
I was in my Cedar Chest over the weekend and found some pieces of vintage jewelry that belonged to my grandmothers.  I decided that I could enjoy having them more if they were on this quilt rather than hidden away in my Cedar Chest so I added the blue floral piece to the left of Marie.  That one belonged to my paternal grandmother.  The snowflake looking brooch belonged to my maternal grandmother.  I'm going to add some silk ribbon roses on either side of that piece.

I have a few other pieces of my grandmothers jewelry that I'll be adding to the other blocks.  Might as well enjoy them!

And these are the recent ornaments that mom and I made.  Mom made the Santas and I made the angels:

Speaking of my mom, her gallbladder surgery is scheduled for December 14th.  The surgeon was trying to hold off until after the holidays but mom has been in so much pain these last few months, they just can't hold out any longer.

And in other news, my Simba kitty seems to be doing much better.  After some research, my vet diagnosed him with Colitis and that was putting the strain on the kidneys.  He's now on special food for Intestinal health and a 3 month regimen of Prednesone.

He's still using my floor from time to time, just for good measure I guess, but 98 % of the time, he's using the litter box.  And, he's looking like he's bulking up a bit.  Not so frail and thin now.  Kathi picked him up to maul him yesterday and she said he feels a little heavier.  He was a 15 pound cat all his life and dropped down to 8 pounds.  He was so tiny but hopefully, is on his way to feeling better.  He actually pounced Lucy the other day so that's a good sign!

Crazy Quilt Mystery Announced!

Are you ready ladies?  Here it is:

Yes, it's a tree!  And my photos just don't do it justice!  As good as I've gotten with my camera, I haven't gotten good enough to capture the true beauty of crazy quilting.

The first thing I did was to make a template from the cone.  Then I pieced my block the same way I do all my blocks, with a 1 inch allowance border.  I stitched the block, cut the piece "inside" lines and using my glue gun, glued it to the cone.  I added a piece of cardstock to the bottom of the cone and glued trim over the seam and around the bottom.  I added a glittered glass Christmas ornament to the top and then glued trim over the edge.  Voila!  It looks like a blizzard doesn't it?  As I said, it's much prettier in person than it looks in the photos.  It's very glittery and was fun to do!

So before I do anything else, I need to do something for myself.  I will be starting on Block 2 of my Winter project, my Marie Antoinette quilt:

I'll be starting on this later today.  I need to add some new things to the shop first.  Well, after I run and get some groceries.

As a quick refresher, here is Block #1:

There will be 9 blocks altogether.  My goal is to have all 9 blocks stitched by March and then I will put the quilt together and hang it in my living room.

Before I head out for now, I thought I would ask my crazy quilt followers if there are any techniques that I do that you would like to learn?  Please leave a message for me here or send me an email and I will gladly write up tutorials on how I do things.  I just need to know what you would like to learn.

Marie Antoinette Quilt Block 1

Among other things, I started stitching on Block #1 of my Marie Antoinette quilt:

I'll be taking this over to mom's with me today and I'll do some stitching while I'm there.

And speaking of being at mom's, she has some emails to answer so if you're waiting for a reply from her, I'll be helping her do that today.

I also put my Pansy piece in the frame yesterday:

I just added it to my Etsy shop in case anyone is interested.

Finally for today, Scott will draw a name for my Snowflake Crazy Quilt ornament & magazine give away when he gets home from work tonight.  I will post the winner's name tomorrow morning!

Good luck everyone!

Crazy Marie Antoinette Quilt To Begin

I haven't been feeling well for the past few days.  I don't know if it's the medication balancing out again or what.  I'm so tired of trying to figure it out and trying to describe it.  I can definitely feel the depression but I don't care to increase the medication.  It just means that I'd have to deal with more withdrawals when I can cut back again.

I decided that now is the perfect time to start on my Winter project.  I pulled out block #1 of my Marie Antoinette quilt and I will start stitching on this today:

If you're new to my blog, I have Seasonal Affective Disorder and have found that a Winter project, helps me to get through the nasty Winter months until Spring.  This quilt has 9 blocks, all featuring an image of Marie Antoinette.  I love the pinks and other soft pastel colors.  There will be loads of lace and glittery things on this quilt.  Tons of flowers and vines.  I have some special do-dads that my friend Cathy K. sent to me that I've been saving for this project.  One is a little Eiffel Tower charm!
I finished stitching up on this crazy quilt piece yesterday:

I'm going to try to get this piece in the frame today and then I'll add it to the shop.

Another finish is this little cat doll:

This was a custom order.  I really love making these little cats.  I think I'll sew up a few more this week and just have them ready for when I feel like stitching on one.

A few more things that I added to the shop are more of my glittered bottlebrush trees:

And here are a few of mom's newest items:

All are available here.

Don't forget about the drawing for my Crazy Quilt Snowflake Ornament.  Details can be found here on this post.

I guess that's my news for today folks.  I'll be posting regular updates of my Marie quilt as I work on it so stop by often for that.

I'll leave you with some muffins that I made the other day:
