I'm doing 3 Halloween Doorknockers all together so I'll start on the 2nd one next week.

Have a great weekend everyone!

100 Details In 100 Days - Days 44, 45, 46, 47 and 48

As I've mentioned earlier, I'll be away from my computer now until Tuesday 8/8. So I've uploaded my 100 Details In 100 Days patterns for the next 5 days. I'll return to my computer on Tuesday with Day #49.

The following patterns are all for outline embroidery. You can crayon tint them and then embroider them or you can embroider them as is. You can also size them if you have a graphic program. I think you may be able to re-size them in Microsoft Paint too but I'm not sure.

Anyway, enjoy these patterns.

Motif Embroidered Calla Lily

Motif Embroidered English Robin

Motif Embroidered Pansy

Motif Embroidered Pears

Motif Embroidered Butterfly

Today's detail is a simple little butterfly design for you to embroider. You can trace it onto your fabric and then work it into your foundation or you can trace it onto tissue paper, pin that to your block and stitch it.

This can be worked with embroidery floss or you can do the wings with perle cotton. I would satin stitch the body and the spots on the wings but you could use beads there instead. Try adding a seed bead to the ends of wing lines.

As I mentioned yesterday, I'll be away from my computer starting tomorrow and will return on Tuesday 8/8. I have my details all worked up for the next few days and will post them this afternoon.

When I return, I'll be drafting up several more of Gina's peacocks from her vintage linen collection. She has some gorgeous peacocks at her new blog! Click here to take a peek!

Halloween Doorknocker Continued

I started embellishing this yesterday afternoon. Still have a way to go on it but I should have some time for it shortly.

I was asked about washing crazyquilts. I would say no to washing and no to dry cleaning. Many of the fabrics I use are dryclean only but many of the hand dyed threads I use are not dry cleanable nor are they washable.

The best way to clean a crazyquilt is to use your vacuum cleaner hose. Put a piece of cheesecloth or a nylon stocking over the end of the hose and secure with a rubberband. Don't drag the hose over your fabrics but rather, using the lift and move method and carefully work over small areas at a time. Since crazyquilts aren't utility pieces, they only thing you really have to worry about is dust and vacuuming them will take care of that.

Scallop Rose Border

Today's detail is a pretty scalloped rose border. You can use it as a seam treatment or stitch it on fabric and work it into your foundation. I suggest 14 count fabric or waste canvas for this one.

I'll be away from my computer starting 8/3 and will return on 8/8. I've already worked up all the daily details for days that I'll be away. I don't think Blogspot allows me to preset my posts like Sharon was able to do while she was away so instead, I'll upload and post all the patterns for those days tomorrow afternoon.

Until tomorrow, enjoy!
