Block #12
Back in the 1970's, my mom sold Avon. Oh, I so much enjoyed that! I always looked forward to the boxes arriving. Mom and I would take everything out of the boxes and set it all up on the table and then I would help her put her orders together. It always smelled so good!!!
The giraffe was an Avon necklace with an orange satin cord. I thought it would be fun to use it on a "jungle themed" block.
The green dragonfly in the upper left corner is little pin that my cousin Kim gave me to use on this quilt. The frog on the bottom left is charm that mom gave me specifically for this quilt. They all seem to work together nicely.
I still have quite a few pieces of fun jewelry from Avon so you'll be seeing those on upcoming blocks!

Oh Pam, I used to sell Avon in the 1970's too! I was an Avon lady for many years, as it was a great way to get to know my neighbours when I moved to a new area! Not having any kids to be meeting up with parents, and working full time, it is hard to meet people in your neighbourhood. I am still friends with some of the women that I met when we first moved here and I started selling Avon. I don't sell it now, but I still buy it. I too have many of the brooches and other jewellery, and have used some of them to embellish my stitching and quilts - funny how things find a new lease of life after all that time!
