I started embellishing this yesterday afternoon. Still have a way to go on it but I should have some time for it shortly.
I was asked about washing crazyquilts. I would say no to washing and no to dry cleaning. Many of the fabrics I use are dryclean only but many of the hand dyed threads I use are not dry cleanable nor are they washable.
The best way to clean a crazyquilt is to use your vacuum cleaner hose. Put a piece of cheesecloth or a nylon stocking over the end of the hose and secure with a rubberband. Don't drag the hose over your fabrics but rather, using the lift and move method and carefully work over small areas at a time. Since crazyquilts aren't utility pieces, they only thing you really have to worry about is dust and vacuuming them will take care of that.

100 Details In 100 Days - Day 42
Today's detail is a pretty scalloped rose border. You can use it as a seam treatment or stitch it on fabric and work it into your foundation. I suggest 14 count fabric or waste canvas for this one.
I'll be away from my computer starting 8/3 and will return on 8/8. I've already worked up all the daily details for days that I'll be away. I don't think Blogspot allows me to preset my posts like Sharon was able to do while she was away so instead, I'll upload and post all the patterns for those days tomorrow afternoon.
Until tomorrow, enjoy!

Halloween Doorknocker 1
I have all the seams covered on this now so I can start adding beads and other do-dads. That's my favorite part!
100 Details In 100 Days - Day 41
I'm a little late in my post today but I think you'll find it worth the wait.
Today's crazyquilt detail is another peacock. This one is charted for cross stitch. I suggest that you stitch this on cross stitch fabric and then work it into your foundation piecing.
Feel free to change the colors or to add beads to this design. Lots of room here for embellishing!

Halloween Blocks
This will be next little crazyquilt project. I decided to do a few Halloween and Thanksgiving doorknockers for my Etsy shop. I did 3 of each.
Unfortunately, I had only 2 pieces left to sew onto the last block and my sewing machine decided to have an attitude problem. I'm a bit devasted at the moment because it's now with the repairman! But at least I have enough things ready to stitch on so this will be my next piece. It's a 5 inch block. And hopefully, my machine will be back here very soon!
