One of the happiest times of my childhood is when I was in Brownies and Girl Scouts. I got to do so many fun things in Girl Scouts. Crafts, baking, field trips. So many nice things. And of course, selling cookies!!!
My most recent crazy quilt trinket block represents those really fun years:
I still have my sash and my pins but I didn't want to take my sash apart. I bought these little Brownie and Girl Scout pins on Ebay and I bought the patch on Ebay.
For all the years I was a Brownie/Girl Scout, I was the flag bearer for my troop. I got to carry the American flag for all of my troops functions and all school assemblies. I was so proud of that and it's I learned my respect for the American flag.
The flag pin in the top righ-hand corner is from the Bicentenial of the United States back in 1976. I was in 8th grade then. So that represents me being the flag bearer as well as the 200th birthday of the United States.
The little heart shaped watch is from my mom. She used to have it hanging on her purse but she can't see it anymore so she gave it to me. I represents the love I have for being a Girl Scout and the happy time that it was in my life.
Here's a photo of my sash:
Notice my first patch is for needlework!

Crazy Quilt Trinket Block - Blue Avon Elephant Pin
Here is the latest finish in my Crazy Quilt Trinket block project:
The blue elephant is pin from Avon from back in the 1970's. I had quite a few of these since my mom sold Avon back then.
I tried to give this block a "girly", pastel circus look. I wanted it to feel whimsical. I'm not sure where I got the little gold crown. Mary Anne maybe? I'm really not sure but it's the only one I had and it seemed to work perfectly on this little 6 inch block!
If you're new to my blog, I've collected little do-dads for years. Saved things from my childhood, saved things that belonged to family members and friends who have since passed, collected things from flea markets and antique shops and garage sales....you know how it goes. When you like little things, you just collect them and save them. Well, a few years back I decided to start showcasing them on 6 inch crazy quilt blocks.
For now, I'm just sewing blocks and stitching blocks and not really worried about putting a quilt together....but it that will happen eventually. These blocks will at some point be made into several wall quilts. I'll probably divide them up by season, theme and holiday. I've done quite a few already, probably 40 or more and you haven't seen them all!!! But you will!
