Guess The Theme

I started another Crazy Quilt purse project yesterday.  This one is a Christmas gift:

Would anyone like to take a guess as to what the theme will be on this one?  Leave a comment for me and stay tuned!

I have a few new cute cat photos to share today too.  First is Wrigley:

Just look at that tail!  It's 14 1/2 inches long!  He walks around with his tail dangling over his head.  I feel like I want to tie a bow on it!  LOL!!!

And here's Cotton with his little Halloween Beanie Baby:

I had a few of my little Halloween Beanie Babies out but Cotton kept stealing them.  The other night, I was laying on the bed watching TV and he hopped up on the bed and dropped one in my face!  I actually had to put my little beanies away and I went out and bought him one of his own.  Now, he carries that little orange bear around all day long!

Purple Cellphone Pouch

I've been busy as a bee stitching on cellphone pouches and finished up on my purple one early this morning:

I used my waste canvas technique for this seam embroidery:

And I used Sharon B's CQ stencils for the crazy quilt stitches on these seams:

The combination of my charted borders and Sharon's stencils gives me an excellent variety of borders!

Here's a closeup of the grapes:

The grapes are a vintage brooch that I picked up at an antique shop a few years ago.  I made the leaves from a piece of green velvet.

I'll get these last few projects sewn in later this week and show photos of the completed projects.

Pink Stitching

It's no secret that pink is my favorite color!  And I work in pink quite a bit!  When I decided to make a few cellphone pouches, one of them had to be....yes, PINK!  LOL!!!  This one is all stitched and ready to sew up:
And here are closeup photos of the crazy quilt embroidery and embellishments:

This is one of my favorite borders to stitch.  The inspiration came from Brian Haggard.  I love the antique look of his crazy quilts!

This seam embroidery is worked with my Waste Canvas technique.  I love working with waste canvas!

Silk ribbon embroidery was a must for this block.

The little pink sequin flowers came from a tutorial that I found online years ago.  Next time I do them, I'll write up the instructions.

This little pink rosebud is a vintage brooch that I bought at a flea market earlier this Summer.

I'm working on a purple cellphone pouch now so I'll post photos of that next time.

Color and Composition Classes Discontinued

I'm sorry to announce, that due to lack of interest, I've decided to discontinue the Color and Composition Crazy Quilt Class.  Lesson 9 which Jason released this past week is the final block.  It was a fun project but with only a couple of students, there's no point in continuing.  Here are the 9 blocks that we've done:

The lessons will remain at Magcloud indefinitely so if anyone would like to work these blocks, they can still do so.  And for anyone who is still working on blocks, you're welcome to email me with questions anytime.

Students Please Check In

First, I would like to ask my students to check in with me.  Could you please leave a comment here on my blog or drop me an email.  I need to know how many students I currently have taking my Color & Composition Class.  Thanks!

I've been working on a few cellphone neck pouches so I thought for today, I would share the first one.  Here's the stitched pouch:

Lot's of bling here!

And here are some closeup photos of the stitches, bead work and embellishments:

Something I like to do with prints is to highlight the design with stitches.  In this last photo, you can see that I outlined the large red flower with a Kreinik metallic #4 braid.  This gives it some dimension.
