Crazy Quilt Mystery Announced!

Are you ready ladies?  Here it is:

Yes, it's a tree!  And my photos just don't do it justice!  As good as I've gotten with my camera, I haven't gotten good enough to capture the true beauty of crazy quilting.

The first thing I did was to make a template from the cone.  Then I pieced my block the same way I do all my blocks, with a 1 inch allowance border.  I stitched the block, cut the piece "inside" lines and using my glue gun, glued it to the cone.  I added a piece of cardstock to the bottom of the cone and glued trim over the seam and around the bottom.  I added a glittered glass Christmas ornament to the top and then glued trim over the edge.  Voila!  It looks like a blizzard doesn't it?  As I said, it's much prettier in person than it looks in the photos.  It's very glittery and was fun to do!

So before I do anything else, I need to do something for myself.  I will be starting on Block 2 of my Winter project, my Marie Antoinette quilt:

I'll be starting on this later today.  I need to add some new things to the shop first.  Well, after I run and get some groceries.

As a quick refresher, here is Block #1:

There will be 9 blocks altogether.  My goal is to have all 9 blocks stitched by March and then I will put the quilt together and hang it in my living room.

Before I head out for now, I thought I would ask my crazy quilt followers if there are any techniques that I do that you would like to learn?  Please leave a message for me here or send me an email and I will gladly write up tutorials on how I do things.  I just need to know what you would like to learn.

Update On CQ Mystery Project - Stitching Complete!

I finished up the stitching and beading on my mystery project yesterday.  Before I assemble it, I thought you'd like to see an update:

I'm heading over to mom's today, after I go to WalMart, and I'll get it put together then.  The mystery will be revealed tomorrow!

Keep guessing ladies!  I've enjoyed reading about what you think this will be!

Musical Food Dishes

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers for my Simba.  He seems to be doing a twinge better.  No peeing or pooping on my floor and he's not throwing up as much as he was.

He's not at all thrilled with his special diet food but he does take his pill without a second thought.  He just gobbles it up!

The challenge now is the "musical food bowls".  I have to make sure that Simba eats his food and not the others and I have to watch Nightmare & Lucy like a hawk so they don't eat his food.

My Nightmare is the most persistent cat I've ever met.  I literally have to put him in the bathroom or bedroom so Simba can eat in peace.

So that's where I'm at with this situation.  I can see why I had a breakdown 2 years ago.  I got so tired of dealing with things, fixing things, cleaning things and just plain doing things.  I just got so worn out!  But enough of that.

I spent hours and hours yesterday adding new things to our shop.  Mom & Kathi have made so many beautiful things!  Here's the latest:

Remember, phone & email orders are welcome!

For now, I'm going to stitch on my "mystery CQ project" and do a bit of needle felting.

Thank you again for keeping my Simba in your prayers!

Update On CQ Mystery Project

Good Morning Ladies!  It's quite early.  My sleep schedule is goofy but so is depression.  I'll talk about that in moment.

I thought you would enjoy seeing a quick update on my Mystery Project.   All the seams are embroidered now:

I've already started beading this and may have another update for you later today.  The shadow you see to the left is my Simba.

I just found out on Friday that we're dealing with Kidney Failure with Simba.  Something hasn't been right for awhile.  He's been throwing up a lot, peeing and pooping on my floor, he dropped so much weight.  I took him to the vet for blood work thinking perhaps he had a thyroid problem but no, it's Kidney Failure.  He's 14.

He's on a special diet now and antibiotics.  I have to take him back to the vet in 2 weeks for another blood test to see where we're at with it.

Despite the Zoloft that I'm on, I can feel that sinking feeling in the background.  He doesn't look or act sick.  His face and eyes are bright, his coat is shiny and soft.  I pray the special diet settles things down.  I'm not even over losing Garfield yet.

For me, it's a twinge of a setback.  I'm wanting to sleep all the time.  Of course, here I am at 3:30 am again!  I've been up since 2:30.  That underlying feeling of not wanting to deal with all this is here.  The Seasonal Affective Disorder Syndrome is loud and clear too.

Anyway, I'm a bit worn out from cleaning up after him constantly but hopefully the special diet will balance things out.

He's the sweetest little kitty you'd ever want to meet.  Very quiet and gentle.  Never bothers anything, not at all obnoxious like my Nightmare.  Just quiet and gentle.

Simba All Comfy & Cozy

A few prayers would be most welcome.

I'm going to take advantage of my early morning quiet time and add a few new things to the shop.  If I'm up to it later, I'll post again.
