Blue Santa Ornament

I sewed for hours yesterday! In fact, I ran my sewing machine for so long, I never did get to any stitching!

The first thing I did on my machine was to finish up this Santa Ornament:

Blue Santa Crazy Quilt Ornament

I then did a ton of foundation piecing including 2 more Comfort Cats to send to Pat:

More Comfort Cats

I really love making these so there will be more!

I sewed up some more purse blocks, a couple of ornaments and another cellphone pouch for Margaret, my mother in law. She loves them! This one will have an Autumn theme.

Ok, so speaking of sewing, can anyone tell me what happens to my brain when I get into a fabric store? I swear, I either need a 12 Step Program or Hypnosis! If you could see my stash you would wonder why I keep buying more fabric. I have absolutely no control!

So, I've decided to put together some more pre-sewn crazy quilt block kits. I could never just part with my fabric and I love to sew blocks so doing some more kits will be fun and I'm sure there are tons of stitchers out there who would love to stitch a CQ but either can't sew or maybe doesn't have a machine.

Anyway, I figured I'd do my 9 inch block kits at $6.00 and some 5 inch ornament blocks at $4.00. I'll include some lace (as I have no control in that department either) and some other do-dads from my stash. Ok, so I have no control at all when it comes to stash! Ha, ha, ha!

When I get back from running errands tomorrow, I'm going to put some heavy duty miles on my sewing machine! Because I must make room for stash!!!

Goody Package From Gina

Just look at what Gina sent to me:

Gift From Gina

Gorgeous laces, trims and buttons and a piece of fabric! I'm in heaven!!! Thank you so much Gina for thinking of me. I can't tell you how exciting it is to see a package from Australia in my mailbox!

Since I have all sorts of new things to play with, I will be sewing up some new blocks today. I already have a pile of things that are ready to stitch but my new stuff is calling to me! I might even get some stitching time in later today.

Patriotic Love Birds Design

I have had several requests recently, to re-release this retired design:

Patriotic Love Birds

I have added it to my Etsy shop and will make it available for the next couple of days and then it will be permanently retired.

BTW - I only list 1 at a time so if you want it and don't see it, check back in a little while.

Antique Cutwork

Another article from my collection of antique patterns & designs. This one on Cutwork is from a women's magazine titled, "The Designer". It isn't dated but it is an early 1900's periodical:

Back From Beautiful Kentucky!

I'm back! And did I ever have a great time! Kentucky is such a beautiful state! Hotter than Billy Blue Blazes but absolutely beautiful!

As I mentioned before I left, we went to the Streetrod Nationals which are held at the Kentucky State Fairgrounds in Louisville. My father in law has an antique car:

Dads 31 Roadster

Is his car gorgeous or what? It's a 1931 Ford Model A Roadster. I've been riding in it and I can't tell you how much fun that is!

I won't bore you with too many car photos but here are 2 more:

Green Model A

I believe this is a Model A as well but I can't tell you what year it is. I'm not that good at it yet! Honestly, I prefer them with fenders and running boards and the traditional bumpers. This one is quite customized.

Last but not least:

Red Car

I think this is a Model A Coupe. It's a bit more classic than the green one.

There were something like 11,000 antique cars at the show all 1948 and older. We didn't see them all. I mean honestly, there's only so many cars a person can deal with looking at in a few short days!

My shopping day with Karen South was so much fun! I feel like I had known her all my life. She is so sweet and fun to talk to and the day went by way too fast!

First, Karen took me to the Louisville Airport to see the antique crazy quilt. Oh my goodness! If you get the chance, you simply must see it! It's the most beautiful antique CQ I've ever seen! And if you would like to see a photo of me by the quilt, hop over to Karen's blog! It's not the best photo of me as my jaw was hanging on the floor but I'm sure you'll be able to tell how thrilled I was to see it in person!

Next, Karen took me to Baer's Fabric store in downtown Louisville. Ladies, I was in heaven! This has to be the greatest fabric store in the US! It's a crazy quilters dreamland! Here's a small sampling of the goodies that I bought for myself:

Kentucky Stash 1

Kentucky Stash 2

I also bought a few little pre-packaged remnant packs and a couple of trims.

Then Karen took me to a bead store:

Kentucky Stash 3

Everything except the Cats Eye Beads came from the bead store that Karen took me to. I bought the Cats Eye beads at Women's World on the fair grounds.

I felt really sad when my day with Karen was over but I know I'll get to spend some more time with her again next year. She gave me a wonderful little goody pack filled with fancy fabrics and trims so I plan to spend my afternoon today playing with all of my new pretties! Thank you Karen for such a lovely day!!!
