Inspiration In Magazine Publications

I mentioned last week that I'm more of a do-er than a reader. I've always loved reading but I find it time consuming and with my drive & passion to constantly create, I find myself looking to magazines to fill my needs. Short articles and lots of pictures that suit two purposes, the need to read and the need for inspiration.

Over the weekend, I picked up the new Quilting Arts magazine:

The image “http://quiltingarts.com/images/shop/QA26.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

This magazine is almost always a treasure to me! I so much enjoy curling up on my sofa with my latest issue of Quilting Arts, a glass of iced tea and getting lost in the beautiful artwork of the contributers.

I also picked up a magazine titled, "Haute Handbags" from the publisher of Somerset Studio & Belle Amoire:

You know how much I love handbags! And this magazine is loaded with gorgeous photos, ideas, how-to's and of course inspiration! Anything can be a handbag! And I truly believe that every women on this planet deserves to own at least, one gorgeous purse. Even if only for the purpose of looking at it! If you're attracted to beautiful purses, you may consider checking this one out. I found it at Borders.

If you're still wondering what those crazy black earrings that I bought yesterday at the flea market will be used for, Allison was correct when she said "peacock tails". Yes, I saw them and I saw peacock tails! Stay tuned for that project!

Happy Easter!

We started our holiday with a nice morning walk through a flea market. It was rather cold this morning. In fact, Spring seems to be on a holiday! No matter, it was something nice to do and we both enjoy it.

It wasn't as large as it normally is, probably due to the cold temps and the fact that it's a holiday but I still managed to find some goodies:

Vintage Jewelry 1

Pretty vintage jewelry pieces to use as embellishments!

Now, you're probably wondering what I'll be using these on:

Vintage Jewelry 2

Take a guess! If you think about what I see them as, you'll know the answer!!!

I also found these earrings which aren't really old but they were loaded with charms:

Vintage Jewelry 3

Personally, I can't imagine wearing these but the charms will work nicely on crazy quilts!

Wishing you all a wonderful and safe holiday!

I'm Still Here....

but I don't have any stitching to share with you at the moment. I picked up a book the other day and have actually been reading! Not something I do very often. I enjoy reading, but I'm usually more of a "do-er".

Anyway, I recently read an online article at Victoriana about the history of Southern needlework and why there aren't many examples in existence today. I think you'll find it facinating.

New & Finished Projects

I'm really running late today! But this should be worth the wait:

Under The Sea 1

My newest little Seascape titled, "Under The Sea" is complete and now available in my Etsy shop.
I so wish you could see this in person. It's so glittery and 3-Dimensional!

I still have a bunch of stuff to do before I can sit down and stitch but when I do stitch, I'll be starting on this:

Black Autism Cellphone Pouch

I had a request for an Autism themed cellphone pouch but with a black background. Special thanks to Kim for stitching the puzzle piece for me again. I have another Autism Ribbon Charm for this one and I'll start with a piece of the puzzle ribbon.

I guess that's it for today everyone. I kind of feel a bit "all over the map" right now. That means I need to stitch which quiets my head so I'm off to finish my chores and then relax.

Dragonfly Purse Stitching Completed!

I finished the stitching on this yesterday and I do wish you could all see it in person! It is so pretty and glittery:

Dragonfly Purse

So, how many dragonflies can you find on here? There are quite a few. And some butterflies too!

When I go to WalMart later this week, I'll pick up a pair of handles for this purse and then get it assembled. I'll have another photo for you when it's all together.

I sewed up some new blocks yesterday. Today I'll be assembling my last Seascape cellphone pouch (yes, kitty is on there now) and I also have to do the finishing on my ornament for the 2007 Just Cross Stitch Ornament Issue. I can't show you a photo or tell you what it is but I'll give you a hint, it's a Blackwork design this year!

If all goes as planned, I may have a bit of time left to sew up a few more blocks. As for stitching, my next project will be the Autism pouch with the black background since I have a request for that. I'll have photos tomorrow.

Until then, enjoy counting the dragonflies!
