Victorian Strawberry Ornaments Crazy Quilts

As promised, my strawberry ornaments have ripened and are ready for picking!

If you're new to my blog, these are Victorian style Crazy Quilt Strawberry Ornaments.  Small pieces of fabric are randomly pieced to a foundation fabric and then hand embroidered with fancy stitches and beadwork along with other pretty embellishments.  I hand painted vintage crocheted doilies for the strawberry tops and added new and vintage flowers along with a ribbon for hanging.

Picking Strawberries can be done here.

If anyone would prefer to make their own, I have an instructional booklet for making your own Crazy Quilt Strawberry Ornaments at Magcloud.

Strawberry Ornaments Almost Ready For Picking!

My crazy quilt strawberry ornaments are almost ready for picking!  I just have to put them together:

These, like my cat dolls, never look like much until I get them sewn together!  But these will be pretty crazy quilt strawberry ornaments!

The Chicago Cubs (yes, I love baseball) play their first game at 12:30 pm so I'll be working on these during the ballgame and I'll have them ready "to pick" by tomorrow!

And next, I'm working on some Crazy Hearts for Bowl Fillers!  Mom's bowl filler fly out the etsy shop door so I thought I'd make some too!

Strawberry Season Is Coming To McHenry Illinois!

Okay, so it's only about 25 degrees outside here in McHenry, and the wind is howling and blowing but it's also March 20th and that means that Spring has to show up eventually!  I saw a Robin in my yard yesterday and I can hear the Red Wing Blackbirds singing out in the woods.

By this time of year, I have had my fill of snow, cold, wind and dreary, cloudy days.  In my anticipation of the arrival of Spring, I thought I'd start on some more of my Crazy Quilt Strawberry Ornaments:

They don't look like much now but when they're finished, they'll look like this:

Stop back to see how my Strawberry garden grows!  If you'd like to grow (make) you're own Crazy Quilt Strawberry Ornaments, the tutorial is available here.

Dolls and Strawberries

I have some finishes to share today!  Yeah!  Sometimes I feel like I can stitch faster than I can finish things.  Maybe it's because I like the stitching part the best!

First, here are my Crazy Quilt Porcelain Dolls:

I think these are so pretty!  And unique!

And then I finished up my ..... oh wait!  I never told you what they were!  Remember these?

Look at them now:

Crazy Quilt Strawberry Ornaments!  These are so much fun to make!  And I'll have an instruction booklet ready soon!

In the meantime, these things and more are in my Etsy shop!

Purple Roses Hanging Pillow

It was so terribly windy yesterday, Peggy and I decided not to walk.  But for today, it looks like the wind calmed down and the sun is out so we should be able to get our mile and 1/2 walk in.

Other than that, it's a stay at home day!  I'll be putting a few miles on my sewing machine.  I want to sew up some new blocks to stitch on and I have my 4th of July door hangers to put together.  I have left over taco salad for dinner so I don't even have to cook today!

Here's a quick update on my purple roses hanging pillow:

It needs a few more do-dads so I'll sit her for a bit and finish it up.

And here are couple more of mom's hanging pillows:

Mom hand embroidered and crayon tinted the butterfly and then the strawberries are from a vintage hankie that I found at a flea market last Summer.

I'm Back!

Whew! 3 days without electricity! Talk about stress!! We had a horrible storm go through here first thing Monday morning. 70 mile per hour winds took out trees and electric lines. There are still people without power and there are trees and branches down everywhere. It looks like a war zone around here!

I had to put 5 bags of groceries in the trash. Since my fridge is now empty, I took the time last night to scrub it real good so I now have a nice clean refigerator and I'm getting ready to go to the grocery store now and get some food!

I managed to do a lot of stitching the past few days. The dead silence in the house makes me insane so I spent most of my time out on my deck or over at mom's. Her power came back Monday afternoon. Anyway, I finished stitching up 4 heart shaped crazyquilt door pillows and I stitched a pillow with an old fashioned bonnet lady.

I told Scott last night that I don't care to go anywhere this weekend. I want to stay home and relax and just play with my stuff so that's the plan.

I'm am so thankful that I bought myself an IPhone!  I was at least able to get some information through all this!

Ok, I just wanted to drop in and say hi.  I'll be back to my regular posting now.  I'm off to get groceries!  I need strawberries!

Crazy Quilt Strawberry Ornaments!

You really came up with some great guesses!  But I think only person guessed correctly!  My "mystery" CQ pieces are indeed Strawberry Ornaments!

Aren't they sweet?  No pun intended!  LOL!!!  There's more photos in our Boutique.  They measure 4 inches high X 3 inches wide and I added a ribbon to the top for hanging.

I've finishing up a cat doll and then I plan to stitch up a few more Cellphone pouches.  After that, I will finish up on my Marie Antoinette quilt!
