Another Crazy Quilt Trinket Block

I finished stitching up another Crazy Quilt Trinket block yesterday:

The little snowman cross stitch piece was designed by Meridel Abrahms.  She did the design quite a few years ago but I always loved it so I stitched up last Summer for this crazy quilt project.

At the top right-hand corner of the snowman piece, you'll find a beautiful vintage rhinestone earring.

At the bottom in the center is a Czech Glass Button that I bought from Ebay a long time ago.

I've been working on this trinket quilt for awhile now.  I put it down when things were so chaotic with my husband's cancer treatment.  I decided to go back to it 2 weeks ago when I lost Lucy.

I still have a lot of great little things that I've collected over the years so I have no idea how many blocks there will be.  A lot of them!!!  I'm working on Block #26 now.

I plan to keep going until I use all my little things.  I'm keeping the backgrounds all pastel.  I may end up putting together several quilts depending on how many blocks I have when I'm done but that's a long way down the road.  For now, I'll just keep stitching.

And with flea market season just around the corner, there may be more trinkets!!!

Never Ending Sampler Panel 3 Band 6

Today I have another band for Panel 3 of the Never Ending Sampler.  Here is the entire Panel so far:

This is band 6 by itself:

Work this band with cross stitches, straight stitches, smyrna cross stitch and either french knots or beads.  If you need help with the smyrna cross stitch, please visit Sharon B's Stitch Dictionary.

Here is band 6 with the band 5 overlap for placement purposes.

Happy Stitching!

Never Ending Band Sampler Panel 3 Band 5

I have another installment of the Never Ending Band Sampler today!

Here is the design so far:

And here is Band 5 by itself:

This band is simply worked with cross stitches and back stitches.

Here is it with the Band 4 overlap for placement purposes:

Don't forget, Crazy Quilters can use these too!  I use waste canvas to stitch the majority of my seam treatments.  These are the charted borders that I use!!!

Crazy Quilt Trinket Blocks

A few years back, I started on some little 6 inch crazy quilt blocks to showcase the trinkets I've collected over the years.  Things I've saved from childhood, things that belonged to my grandmothers, my aunt, my great aunts, my flea market finds, do-dads that Scott has given me and so on.

The past few years have been rough so I kind of lost interest in this project and opted to stitch more simplistic things like cross stitch and simple embroidery.

When I lost Lucy last week, I needed to keep myself busy.  I felt like my arms had been ripped off my body.  I just didn't know what to do with myself so I pulled out my little box of finished blocks to look at them.  I had one started and decided to finish it.  I posted a photo the other day but here is a better picture:

The little heart is a pin that mom gave me (I think) years ago.  The blue flower to the right of it an earring that belonged to my grandmother.  I'll use it's companion on another block.  I also have the matching necklace.

Once I finished this, I thought now would be a good time to get back to the project so I put together a few blocks on my sewing machine and I've been working on them.

I finished this one the other day:

That cute little chick is an Avon pin from the 70's.  My mom was an Avon representative back then so I have quite a few of these cute little pins.  They had solid perfume in the back.  The little heart with my name on it was given to me years ago too.  I just can't remember by whom!

So that's what I'm doing at the moment.  Finally feeling up to some crazy quilting.

Thank you!

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your kindness in regards to me losing my Lucy girl.  She was with me for a long time.  Scott rescued her when she was only 8 months old.  When I can handle going through my photos, I'll post a picture of her right after we had her spayed.  She was so cute.  In the meantime, this one was taken about 2 years ago:

And this one was taken in 2014.  She was looking at Scott:

We had her little kidneys working great!  But she was having trouble with her back legs.  Our vet suspected that she had a blood clot in her spine causing her back legs to give out on her.  I couldn't take chance that she would fall and break a bone.  I didn't want her to suffer.  So I did what I had to do.  She was 19 1/2 years old.  We gave her a good life.  She wanted for nothing.  She was so beautiful!

Anyway, I've been trying to keep myself busy.  I'm always lost when I lose one.  I pulled out my Crazy Quilt trinket blocks.  I had one started from awhile ago and I finished it up:

Sorry that the picture is a little dark and fuzzy.  I took this with my cellphone rather than my camera.  I'll get a better picture and post it soon.

Over the weekend, I sewed up a couple more of these little 6 inch blocks to stitch on.

It's really been a rough couple of years here.  A rough decade really.  But Spring is around the corner right?  Despite the fact that we just got dumped on with 12 inches of snow over the weekend.  I was really okay with not having to look at any!

In case you missed my post, the Spring 2018 issue of Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine is now available:

This is available in both print and digital from Magcloud.

Oh, I wanted to make an announcement about the ATC Swap.  We didn't receive enough ATC's to put together into a book.  So instead, we will be featuring them in the Summer 2018 issue of Crazy Quilt Quarterly magazine.  The prizes will remain the same.  My staff and I will vote on our 6 favorite ATC's and those ladies will receive the prizes.  I'll keep you all posted as to when I send the ATC's out.

Since today is Abraham Lincoln's birthday, I think I'll go stitch and watch the movie Lincoln.  If you haven't seen it, it's very good!
