Give Thanks To The Lord

I think I finished stitching this on Christmas Day.

It's from Kooler Design Studio and it's on their website.   I had intended on having it done for Thanksgiving and sewing it into a door hanging pillow but it didn't quite happen.

It's a lot of stitching and worked with 3 strands on 25 ct Lugana over 2.  I love stitching fruit designs because their so colorful!

And this is my latest design project.  Bible Bookmarks:

I expect to have these at Kitty And Me on Etsy around the end of the month.

Sane and Crazy Stitching

Thought I'd share my current stitching projects:

First, I started on this beautiful Cornucopia by Kooler Designs Studio awhile back:

I had to hoped to complete it by Thanksgiving but I'm not sure that will happen.  I'm still in slow motion on some things.  Still winding down from everything and I get tired sooner than normal.  I just had to run on adrenaline for so long, taking care of mom and dad and the house, it's going to take awhile to settle down guess.

I started on this little Crazy Quilt block yesterday:

The little cross stitch owl is a freebie from Shannon Christine Designs.  She has some really pretty patterns.

I'd like to get back to some of  the vintage iron-embroidery patterns too.  I have a huge collection of those charming little patterns, including mom's now.  I want to get back to using them.

But, one thing at a time!

I'm thinking come Spring, I might adopt another little Russian Blue cat.  I miss my Bleubird so much, I still can't believe I lost him at only 11 years sold.  The Russian Blue cats have amazing personalities and characteristics.

If I do adopt another little one, I will name him Sherman after the Sherman family line on my mom's side.  I spent so much time on that line of the family and I'm still working on it!  They moved around back in the 1800's more than we do now!  Anyway, I thought Sherman would be a cool name.

Cross Stitch Pumpkin Block Finished

I woke up quite early this morning and decided to stitch on the pumpkin block:

It's a cloudy, rainy day here so the photo isn't great.  It's brighter than it looks here but it's done.  I'll start on this one next:

The cross stitch owl looks a little washed out due to the dreariness of the day today.  The design is by Shannon Christine Designs.  This is a little freebie on her website.  She has tons of pretty patterns so do hop over and take a look at her work.

Cross Stitch And Crazy Quilting

I had a bunch of little cross stitch pieces that I did over the years.  They were the perfect size for 6 inch crazy quilt blocks:

So I spent Saturday sewing them up.  I started stitching on one over the weekend.  Had to do the pumpkin first since it's October:

I don't remember who the designer is because I stitched this a few years ago.  I like to give credit where credit is due but I just don't remember.  It might be a Lizzie Kate design.

This is the block before I started stitching on it:

I don't stress out over doing curved pieces.  I just top stitch them and then sew trim over them.  This afternoon, I'll started adding my beloved beads and sequins to this block.

If anyone is interested, all back issues of Crazy Quilt Quarterly Magazine are still available in my Etsy shop.

On Sunday, I ran over to the local farm market to get some pumpkins.  They have a little petting zoo every year in the Fall.  I fell in love with this little guy:

I could have spent all afternoon just playing with him.  He was so sweet and really seemed to enjoy the fact that I'm a sucker for animals!

Some Stitching To Share

After losing my parents and packing up the house and then losing one of my little cats, I've taken some time to get my own house back in order.  I still have a few loose ends to tie up and a few things to organize and put away but I'm doing it a little bit at a time.

I have been stitching and have a few things to share.

First, I started this piece last Summer when my dad was sick.  I just finished it about a month ago:

The pattern is by Kiralyn's Needlearts and she's on Etsy.  She has some of the sweetest patterns!  I'm sure I'll purchase a few more of her patterns once I stitch up some of the things in my stash.

I also stitched up one of the new Mill Hill Magnet kits:

I used to really enjoy making the little beaded kits but lately, I'm finding them really tedious and they're just not using as many beads as they used to.  I don't buy as many as I once did but I thought this one was really cute.

Over the weekend, I stitched up a crazy quilt block:

The pumpkins are a pin and earrings from Avon.  The spider web is worked with a metallic, variegated sewing thread.  It's similar in weight to Kreinik's Blending Filament.   It was in with my mom's sewing things.

So basically, after being a caretaker for so long and getting things settled from my parents house, I'm taking a little time to "get my brains back in my head", to quote my mother.  She used to say that all the time.  I'll get back to designing but I need some time to wind down from the stress.

I also have my parents dog.  When my dad's hip broke, I had to bring him to my house so he's been with me almost 2 years now.  My mom was legally blind and he was her 3rd seeing eye dog:

His name is Ozzie and he's a beautiful yellow lab.  Good as gold and sweet as can be.  But he's scared to death of the kitties!  Ozzie came from Leader Dog For The Blind in Rochester Hills Michigan.  He'll be 8 years old around Thanksgiving.

February Cross Stitch Pattern Releases

I don't know about anyone else, but January is not my favorite time of year!  It's been bitter cold here and I'm looking forward to having some warmer temps!  February always seems a little better because we have Valentine's Day and it's a short month so Spring will be here soon!

For now, I have several new releases to share!

My Crazy Ornaments are really popular so this time, I have a set of 4 Crazy Valentine Cats.  These were designed for 14 ct. White Perforated Paper using DMC and Kreinik #4 Braid.

Next is the final installment of The Never Ending Sampler.  This band sampler has a Spring theme and is worked in a variety of specialty stitches using white DMC on 28 ct. Lavender Lugana.  Stitch diagrams are in included.

Rejoice is also Spring themed and based on a poem I wrote years ago.  It's worked on 32 ct Sage Murano using DMC and Mill Hill beads.

I shall rejoice when it is Spring and foliage fills the trees.
When robins lay their pale blue eggs, and blossom scent the breeze.

I shall rejoice when songbirds voice a melody so new.
When April showers, flowers bring in May when skies turn blue.

I shall rejoice when meadows turn from white to verdant green.
When all the earth is new again, Rejoice, For it is Spring!

One of the most beloved scripture verses of all time is 1 Corinthians 13 also know as The Greatest Of These Is Love.  This sampler is worked on 28 ct. Cream Lugana with Sampler Threads from The Gentle Art.  DMC alternatives are included.

Finally, a sweet little St. Patrick's Day sampler featuring the famous phrase, may the luck of the Irish be with you.  This design is also worked on 28 ct. Cream Lugana with Sampler Threads as well as Kreinik #4 Braid.  Again, DMC alternatives are included.

Ask your favorite needlework retail stores to stock my patterns.

They are also available in my Etsy store.

Poinsettia Biscornu Ornament

I started one of my Poinsettia Biscornu Ornaments before Christmas but put it down for a week or so.  I finished it up this morning:

I love stitching those satin stitch poinsettias!  The Kreinik gold is really glittery but doesn't show well in this photo.

Biscornu Finishing Instructions

I've been doing some new Biscornu designs.  I love them!  They don't have be worked as biscornu pincushions.  They can be flat and used as square ornaments, magnets and bookmarks.

Here are 2 of my newest Biscornu designs:

I'll release these next week.  I didn't include the Biscornu finishing directions in the leaflets.  If you need the instructions, you can find them here:  Biscornu Finishing Directions
