Elegant Crazyquilt Seam Treatments - Try Me Patterns

If you've been considering my Elegant Crazyquilt Seam Treatments EBooks, I thought you might enjoy trying a few patterns first.  I worked up 2 charted borders for you to use on your Crazy Quilt seams using Waste Canvas:
If you've done Counted Cross Stitch, you'll know how to work with Waste Canvas.  If you haven't, the basic principle is that one square on the grid = 1 stitch on the Waste Canvas.  It's a matter of counting out your stitches and duplicating them on your Crazy Quilt.  Full directions are available in Volume 1 of my Ebook.

For Crazyquilting, I recommend using 8.5 count or 10 count Waste Canvas.

If you already have my Ebooks, then please, enjoy these new additions to your seam treatment collection!

Marie Antoinette Quilt

I arranged the Marie Antoinette crazyquilt blocks in one image so you can see how the quilt will look when it's put together:
I have pink satin for the outside border and a pretty trim to hand sew on the seams.  Couldn't you just stare at this all day long and never get anything else done?  LOL!!!

Hand Embroidered Pillows

When I was in WalMart today, I picked up a 3rd package of alphabet beads.  Can you believe, there is only 1 "T" in the package?  But there are 4 "X's" if not more!  What is up with that!  Does anyone need alphabet beads with the letter "X"?  I have way more than I need!  LOL!

Anyway, now I can at least finish my Marie Antoinette quilt because I finally have 3 "T's" to spell out her name!

For now, I thought I'd share a few new things that mom made.  First is her Tinted Embroidered Butterfly Pillow:
I think Mom used a vintage embroidery pattern from my collection.  Next is mom's Crocheted Bonnet Lady Pillow:
Mom used a vintage dresser scarf to create this pretty cottage accent pillow.  Notice the flower beads on the green ribbon bows!

I also added a few of my Unique Handcrafted Greeting Cards to our Boutique:

I love the soft pastel colors of vintage greeting cards and use them often to make new ones!  Of course I add lots of glitter!

Well, those are my pretties for today!  I'll get Block #9 of my Marie Antoinette quilt finished up and have a photo for you soon!

Victorian Uncle Sam Tussy Mussys

I had to share these beautiful Victorian Tussy Mussys that mom made:

Are these unique or what?  I've never seen a tussy mussy for the 4th of July and these are just so patriotic!  Mom couldn't decide what color to go with so she made Red Uncle Sam Tussy Mussys and Blue Uncle Sam Tussy Mussys.

I just added these to our Boutique!  Now it's time for me to make dinner!  More tomorrow.....

Upate On Marie Antoinette Quilt Block #9

I went to Michael's on Monday with mom and I picked up some alphabet beads.  I wanted to spell out Marie's name on this final block.  Out of 2 packages of alphabet beads, there were only 2 "T's"!  Can you believe it?  I have something like 8 "X's" and only 2 "T's"!  I need 3.  So spelling out her name will have to wait until tomorrow when I go to WalMart.  In the meantime, this is the block at this point:

I will put this block on hold until tomorrow.  In the meantime, I'll have to find some other things to do.

Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt Block #9 Continued

I didn't have a lot of stitching time yesterday but some.  Scott took me to a flea market yesterday morning where I found some porcelain doll heads.  I'm going to dress them with Crazy Quilting.  Are you surprised?  LOL!

When we got home, I got my paperwork all caught up and straightened up my stash a bit.  I think I enjoy organizing my supplies more than anything else!

Anyway, here is an update on the final block of my Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt:

Mom and Dad are coming today for grilled chicked, salad and fruit salad.  I think Mom and I are going to run up to Michael's for a little while and see what they have in the way of new glitter and new paper.

For now, I think I'll do some silk ribbon work on this before I straighten up my house.

Have a great holiday everyone!

Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt Block #9 - Finally!

I finished up the little kitten cellphone pouch that I was working on and decided that was definitely time to get the final block of my Marie Antoinette Crazy Quilt.  Here's the block with the trims:
And here it is with the seam embroidered:
I'm looking forward to putting this quilt together!   I had all the blocks laid out on the floor this morning and it's very sparkly!  Well, what I could see if it when the cats weren't trying to walk on it!  LOL!!  I'll start on the beading tomorrow.

Here is the little kitty cellphone pouch:
I'd like to sew these up tomorrow but not sure I can squeeze anything else into my day.  We're trying to get the yard in order and constantly working around rain!

A Little Crazy Quilt Eye Candy

I'm all over the place these days!  We're working on getting the yard and house ready so I can teach classes here at home.  I'm doing some simplifying around here too.  Cleaning out some things, rearranging and organizing my stash (something I always love doing) and mom & I just started to put together a couple of cookbooks.  Mom's will be doing a compilation of her best recipes which go back to when I was little!

Mine will be a collection of my muffin recipes.  Since I like to experiment with different ingredients, I've really come up with some great and unique muffin recipes.  So we're starting work on putting these together which means mom will be cooking more and I will be baking more (thank goodness our neighbors love what we make) so we can have good photos of everything!

Of course I'm stitching too.  Here's a little Crazy Quilt eye candy:
This is a little cellphone pouch.  I plan to sew this up over the weekend.

This too will be a little cellphone pouch.  It's ready for beading but I wanted to share it at this point so you can see what my seam treatments look like using my waste canvas technique.  Perfectly sized and spaced stitches, everytime!  I'll start the beading on it today and I should be able to do the finishing over the weekend.

Glittered Greeting Cards

Mom & I have been busy!  We've been making greeting cards with lots of glitter!

We love anything vintage so mom and I use a lot of vintage greeting cards and then make them into new cards.  It gives us a the opportunity to use lots of sparkly glitter which you know, we love!

We've decided to go a little more specialized with our boutique.  Since our expertise is in sewing and stitching, mom and I are going to focus more on that.  Needlework, sewing, holiday ornaments and our blank notecards.  We've put some pretty things on sale so please visit our store and see what we have to offer.  It's not too early to start thinking about Christmas shopping!

Crazy Quilt Kitty I Phone Pouch

I had a custom order for an I Phone Pouch with a kitty:
I was going to use a little kitty charm on this but then I remembered that I had that sweet little vintage rhinestone cat pin.  It was perfect for this pouch!  I've already shipped it out to my customer.  If you'd like to see more of my Cellphone pouches, there are some on my website.  This one is a neck pouch but I also make them without the chain.

Awesome Flea Market Treasures!

Scott and I took mom to a couple of Flea Markets on Sunday for Mother's Day.  I found some really great treasures!

First, a couple of great vintage hats to take apart for the flowers:
That pink one is just covered with shaded velvet leaves!  The white one has roses roses on it.  I think I'll use some of those roses to make some Shabby Wedding Cuff Bracelets.  I paid $5.00 for both of these hats.  $2.50 each!

Next, I found a couple of bags of buttons:
These bags were $6.00 each.  I just couldn't resist them.  It's going to take me awhile to pull them all off the cards.

Then I found this awesome trim.  I think it's from the 70's:
There's about 3 yards on here and I only paid $3.00 for it!

The Holy Grail of all Flea Markets for us is coming up this Sunday.  It's in Elkhorn Wisconsin at the Fair Grounds.  It's the 1st Elkhorn Flea Market of the season and I am counting the days!  I find so much great junk there.  I can't wait!
