Idle Hands....

I did do some stitching on my peacock quilt yesterday. I mentioned a few weeks back that it's too big for the scanner. We have the camera out right now so when I have a few free moments, I'll take a picture of it.

Anyway, I did some stitching and it felt good. If all goes well, maybe I can have an hour or two later to work on it.

Another verse from an antique sampler that just popped into my mind is this:

"This needlework of mine may tell,
that when a child I learned well
and by my elders I was taught
not to spend my time for naught."

I always liked that verse and used it on a marriage sampler for my living room a few years back.

Today, I've scanned 2 more of my newest vintage transfers from Sherry. These are just so cool! Why does life have to get in the way when there's so much to stitch?!!!

Home Improvement

Sorry I disappeared again everyone! We're doing some home improvement here. Our house had a drop ceiling in the living room. Ick! So we're in the process of tearing that out. Underneath that, there's a tiled ceiling. Icky 50's type stuff. So that will have to come out. Then under that, there are spacer boards which we'll have to pull out before we can drywall. It's ridiculous!

Anyway, I'll try to have something interesting for you tomorrow.

Isn't it just too cute?!!

Redwork Books

For those of you who like Redwork, I have 2 wonderful books in my collection. The designs in both books are from vintage Redwork quilts.

The first book, Red & White is a two book set. One contains the history of redwork along with vintage advertisements and photos of antique redwork quilts. The second book in the set contains many of the patterns from the quilts.

RedworkBook1

The second book titled, Nature's Beauty In Redwork contains 25 beautiful patterns from antique Redwork quilts.

RedworkBook2

Both books are available from Keepsake Quilting or Amazon.

Sharing Some Of My Books

I don't have any stitching to share with you right now so I thought I would share a few of my favorite needlework related books.

Briggs2

Briggs1

These two books are loaded with wonderful Victorian designs by William Briggs and Co. LTD. Perfect for Crazy Quilting and many other needlework and craft applications. I ordered mine from Amazon. The "Forgetmenot" sprig that I used on my All That Jazz block came from one of these books.

Speaking of the All That Jazz project, be sure to visit Annies Crazy World blog to check on the finishing progress.

Bonnet Kitties In Cross Stitch

I don't have any stitching that I can share with you today. I did start a 15 inch peacock block the other day but it's on my big quilt frame that my husband made for me and it doesn't fit on the scanner. I don't want to have to keep taking it on and off the frame.

So today, I thought I'd share with you 2 of my newest designs for counted cross stitch. These are Bonnet Kitties and they are published by Imaginating Inc. The designs aren't up on their website yet but they are available in stores and catalogs.

Cat1

Cat2

The designs are based on real cats, Magic and Katie. They belong to my friend Sylvia who graciously grants me permission to work from photos of her babies for my designwork.

Thank you Sylvia!

Good Luck Block Completed

Good Luck Block Day 7

Is there someone out there who downloaded the Doorknocker finishing instructions that I posted on Saturday? If so, would you consider emailing them to me? It would be so much easier than to sit here and rewrite the directions. Thanks!

Another Bunny

Well, I don't know what happened to my post on Sewing A Doorknocker but I sure hope it isn't gone forever. It took me 1 1/2 hours to write that up on Saturday. I'll give it a couple of days and see if it comes back. If not, I'll try to rewrite and repost it.

In the meantime, I finished up this little bunny last night. I'm going to add some little yellow seed beads for the flower centers on the egg.

Again, please excuse the cat hair.

Good Luck Block Day 6

I had a little time to work on this some more. As you can see, my mom crocheted the little shamrock for me so I handpainted it, sewed it on and added some flowers and leaves. Then I beaded around the outside.

Help me out here, does this look done? Or do you, my readers feel it needs something else?

With the craziness in my life at the moment, and because I had to put it down for a bit, I feel a little out of touch with it. Let me know what you all think.

I'm Back!

Sorry for the long absence. Things have been rather crazy here but if all goes well, I hope they'll be settling down soon.

I haven't been able to do much in the way of stitching. What little bit I have done has been iron-on transfer embroidery. I stitched up these two little Easter bunnies. As you can see, I crayon tinted them. I've also started on a 3rd one. As soon as I complete it, I'll post it here.

Please excuse any kitty hair that you see!

I've had to put the Crazy Quilt valentines away for the time being. I don't think I can complete them in time for Valentine's Day. I'll have to save them for next year I guess.

On the "All That Jazz" quilt front, check out Annies Crazy World blog to watch the assembly process.
