Tatting

Tatting

Tatting is such a lovely embellishment!

I finished my tatted edging for the bluebird pillowcase last night. It's worked in mint green crochet thread. I'll attach it to the pillowcase later today.

I scanned the other pieces so that you could see that I really can do other patterns besides the plain tatted edge that I always do! I think I use the plain edging alot because I know the pattern by heart and therefore, can do it without following the written pattern.

I taught myself to do needle tatting a couple of years ago never dreaming that eventually, it would make lovely additions to my Crazy Quilts!

Pretty tatted borders can be used on towels, pillowcases, clothing, just about anything that you would put lace on. With a little imagination, the possibilities are endless.

I had to update my eblogger account to leave a comment. I'm enjoying all the lovely posts and pictures over here. I'm envious of your tatting abilities...I can't even knit! The bluebird pillowcase is cute too, I have that same pattern and made kitchen towels with it. Fun!

You taught YOURSELF how to do tatting???? Why do I feel so ORDINARY while I read some of these blogs...But then I remember that some of you are professionals in the textile world, while I am happily dabbling around the edges! And I do love looking at what everyone else does, even if I don't do it myself. I must have another look at some of my linen collection; I am sure some of the edgings are tatting, not crochet. Linda might know better than I, so next time she is available, I should ask her expert opinion. It would be nice for me to be able to use the correct terminology when describing my linens. I have only just learnt how to tell machined crochet from hand crochet!
